ArenaNet is making changes to the gathering tools. Glyphs provide bonuses for collecting resources in Guild Wars 2. The community likes the new glyphs.
Players can currently only customize the appearance of armor and weapons in Guild Wars 2, but not the gathering tools. From now on, transmutation charges can also be used to change the tool skin. This works with both limited and unlimited tools.

Glyphs Enhance Tools in Guild Wars 2
In addition to visual customization, our tools can gain practical bonuses. Previously, there were only a few tools that offered a chance for additional materials during use. With the glyphs, that changes as they provide the following benefits:
• Tailor’s Glyph: Gain a 33% chance for bonus fabric scraps
• Leatherworker’s Glyph: Gain a 33% chance for bonus leather scraps
• Efficiency Glyph: The gathering process is 50% faster
• Flight Glyph: Increases movement speed for 5 seconds after gathering
One of these glyphs can be acquired for free in the Gem Store until April 24. This is permanently available. They can be extracted at any time without an upgrade extractor. If applied to a tool with a limited lifespan, the glyph will be returned once the gathering tool is depleted.
Alternatively, tools with one of these effects, which are only temporary, can be purchased from the merchant for gathering items in Lion’s Arch using Karma.

Available through Black Lion Chests
The glyphs are not available to purchase directly. They are either obtained through Black Lion Chests or by purchasing certain tools in the Gem Store. The gathering tools that had an effect on their own can be exchanged for a revamped version that has one of the following glyphs.
• Clockwork Pickaxe (Watcher Glyph): Gain a 33% chance for a Clockwork Gear as a bonus
• Lucky Dog Harvesting Tool (Plunderer Glyph): Gain a 33% chance for a superior crafting material as a bonus
• Infinite Gathering Tools from Unbound Magic (Unbound Glyph): Gain unbound magic as a bonus when gathering

Which is the best glyph?
The community is largely reacting positively to this change and is speculating on which glyph is the best. The majority favor the Leatherworker’s Glyph, as fabric prices were already at a low.
However, the price for leather will also decrease, as more material will be produced without an increase in consumption. Ultimately, the glyph appears to be largely suitable for self-sufficiency.
ArenaNet places a strong emphasis not just on the appearance of the gear, we show you 7 fantastic-looking landscapes here.
