Fans are now drawing Rockstar’s attention to an issue with the cars in GTA 5 Online. Here’s what it’s about.
What happened? New vehicles are regularly released in GTA Online that players can purchase. However, the latest releases have different driving behavior than before. They handle erratically, easily lose control, and become uncontrollable at high speeds.
Now there is a petition intended to make Rockstar aware that players are dissatisfied with the changes.
Vehicle issues with 36 cars in GTA – Signatures should help
The demand of the initiative: On the platform Change.org, YouTuber Broughy1322 demands that the handling of 36 cars in GTA Online be revised. Specifically, the “strAdvancedFlags” should be removed. These are lines in the vehicle code that directly affect driving behavior.
Broughy1322 is well-known in the GTA community. He tests all cars thoroughly and demonstrates in his videos which are the best vehicles. He is regarded as an expert.
Then the problems began: Broughy writes: “When the San Andreas Super Sports Series DLC was released in March 2018, many new cars were introduced to the game. These vehicles were different from the ones that had been released in the last four and a half years, as there are new handling files (the files used to control and program the performance of cars), namely ‘strAdvancedFlags.’
This is how the poor driving behavior manifests: He states that 36 cars from the last three GTA DLCs have these new AdvancedFlags. Every car with these AdvancedFlags displays characteristics that lead to strange engine physics.
The gears shift slowly, and the RPMs would exceed the limit for several seconds before shifting. The new characteristics result in unpredictable suspension, causing cars to bounce easily. This, in turn, leads to a terrible driving experience on the bumpy roads of Los Santos and Blaine County.
A key point for the petition was the release of the Itali GTO. We presented it to you here as a beautiful, erratic luxury vehicle:
How big is the problem? This is how the Itali GTO handles in the online mode of GTA 5. It is uncontrollable in corners, and when hitting a slight bump, the car literally jumps. Every player thus has access to this driving behavior:
This is how the problem was solved: Players from the GTA community found ways to try the Itali GTO in single-player with mods. They disabled the AdvancedFlags and immediately found better handling.
The goal of the petition: With the gathering of signatures, Broughy wants to show the developers how unhappy players are that the multi-million cars exhibit such driving behavior. The AdvancedFlags should be removed from the 36 affected cars and also kept away from future vehicle releases.
Even the latest vehicle, the Tulip Muscle Car, is said to be affected by these issues. Broughy tested the car and writes: If you hit a bump with two wheels on one side, the vehicle steers in that direction. Now, cars not only fly but also steer themselves.
