Nothing can stop GTA 6 from becoming the “gaming event of the decade.” Several experts agree on this.
What do the experts say? The English-language online magazine GamesRadar+ asked several experts the following question: “Is there any force that could stop GTA 6 from becoming one of the biggest releases of all time?”
One of the respondents is Mat Piscatella, an analyst specializing in the gaming industry at the market research firm Circana. His answer is clear:
No. (And if there were such a force, I’m not sure I’d want to think about what it could be.)
Piscatella believes that GTA 6 will be “the gaming event of the decade” despite all the challenges before its release, such as delays or angry employees.

Rockstar and Take-Two can take their time
Is there reason to be concerned about GTA 6? Fans and the gaming industry are still reeling from the recent delay of the game. GTA 6 is now set to release not in May 2026, but in November 2026.
Many fans are upset and worry that this won’t be the last delay. Even worse, the situation may be for developers and publishers who wanted to avoid GTA 6 and were counting on a release in May.
For developers Rockstar and publisher Take-Two, the delay is unlikely to be significant. At least financially, the delay is expected to have no major impact on the company, says Professor Joost van Dreunen from NYU Stern School of Business.
Take-Two’s strong quarterly results should give the publisher room to breathe, van Dreunen explains. He states, “GTA 6 is expected to bring in $2.7 billion in profit at launch.” Take-Two can afford to be patient.
Angry employees change nothing
What about layoffs? According to the CEO of Kantan Games, Dr. Serkan Toto, Rockstar and Take-Two have no worries regarding this issue. Kantan Games is a consulting firm focused on the Japanese gaming industry:
- On November 6, 2025, MeinMMO reported that former Rockstar employees protested outside the Rockstar North office in Edinburgh and Take-Two in London.
- The reason was the layoff of up to 40 employees, who according to industry insider Jason Schreier only had one reason: The employees wanted to form a union, but Rockstar wanted to prevent this.
The layoffs have even been addressed in the British Parliament. Politician Christine Jardin from the British Parliament called on ministers to support those who were laid off. Furthermore, measures must be taken to ensure that this never happens again.
According to Serkan Toto, however, Rockstar and Take-Two are such giants that this controversy shouldn’t affect them. “It’s such a large organization that I doubt the management of Take-Two spent more than a minute thinking about the laid-off employees,” he says.
According to experts, there’s no realistic chance that GTA 6 won’t be a major success. Even the six-month delay and protesting former developers aren’t expected to inflict significant damage on the game.
