In September 2022, a user released a massive leak about GTA 6. Now, two teenagers have been arrested in England. They are said to have gained access to the data from a hotel room.
In September 2022, several leaks shocked the gaming community. Jason Schreier, a well-known journalist, described it as “the biggest leak in Rockstar’s history.” A total of 90 clips and images from GTA 6 made their way onto the internet and spread rapidly across Twitter, Reddit, and other channels.
Meanwhile, two people have been arrested, and a trial has taken place in the UK for 7 weeks. This was reported by the British BBC (via bbc.co.uk). The two arrested individuals are said to be two 17-year-old autistic persons. A psychiatrist had classified the main perpetrator as unfit to stand trial, therefore he did not have to appear in court.
Teenagers caught in the act in hotel, equipped with FireTV Stick
What did the police find? According to the BBC, the main perpetrator was caught in the act during his crime when the police from London searched his hotel room.
The police reportedly found an Amazon FireTV Stick on the hotel TV that allowed the perpetrator to connect to cloud computing services using a newly purchased smartphone, a keyboard, and a mouse.
In this way, he allegedly gained access to major tech giants. Not only Rockstar was affected by the hacks, but also large companies like Microsoft and Nvidia. Notably, important keys from Nvidia ended up on the internet, intended to distribute trojans.
