You have many options to earn money in GTA 5 Online. Those who have already purchased a hangar as a CEO can carry out missions there, acquire products, and sell them. By paying attention to the special bonuses, you can pocket extra cash.
We will show you what you should pay attention to in the hangar deals in GTA 5 Online.
Buy Hangar as CEO
The hangar businesses came with the “Smugglers Run” DLC to GTA 5 Online. If you want to get into the hangar business, you must first achieve CEO status.
This guide is specifically for players who have already purchased a hangar or really want to play plane missions. It would be more profitable to buy a bunker, which you then operate together with the import-export business.
Therefore, you should not buy a hangar now if you want to earn money most effectively in GTA 5 Online.
However, if you say: “Planes are definitely my thing, I am happy to earn a bit less per hour, but I don’t have to do bunker missions,” then you can comfortably buy a hangar in-game. To do this, open your phone in the game, open the internet app, and click on the “Maze Bank” ad.
There you will find five hangars:
- Two at Los Santos International Airport
- Three in Fort Zancudo
The advantage of the hangars in Fort Zancudo is that you will get a stay permit there. Without this, you would immediately get a wanted level and be pursued by the present military. But with a hangar on this terrain, you will be tolerated there.

Workshop in the Hangar
If you have enough budget, you can equip your hangar with a workshop. There, planes can be directly customized or upgraded.
If you want to give your Hydra a unique look, you can do that in the workshop. However, with the Hydra, only the paint can be changed. This applies to most planes that you order through the Pegasus service.
For many planes from the Smugglers Run DLC, there are additional customization options.
Tips for Selling
To earn money with the hangar, you bring products into storage and later sell them in a sales mission. First, go to your office in the hangar and use the computer there.
Select the “Acquisition” tab. Here, you have eight different categories available from which you can acquire products:
- Drugs
- Chemicals
- Medical Supplies
- Animal Materials
- Art Objects
- Jewelry & Gemstones
- Tobacco & Alcohol
- Counterfeit Goods
If you select one of the products, a mission with Ron starts. He explains what you need to do. There are different scenarios where you, for example, have to protect a Titan from enemy Buzzards or destroy jammers so that the sought cargo is revealed on the radar.
Tip: For each mission, Ron provides you with mission vehicles like helicopters or planes. You do not have to take them. If you feel safer with your own Buzzard or Hydra, you can rely on them and call them in, for example, using the CEO ability in the menu.
After you complete the first part of the mission and collect the cargo, you now need to bring it back to your hangar. A box is worth 10,000 GTA Dollars without a bonus.
Before you can start another mission in the same category, you must first wait for a cooldown period (depending on speed). For better efficiency, it is advisable to acquire another product from a different category instead of waiting for the cooldown. In the following example, you can see the cooldown for each product category:
It is good if you have two categories at most, which you alternate between. Each category has a space limit of 50 boxes. You should not choose the categories randomly, as there are various bonuses that will earn you more money in the long run.
Bonus Payments and Differences in Cargo
There are various bonuses in the different cargo categories. These bonuses bring more money starting from a certain amount of cargo and are more or less worthwhile for different applications. The following graphic illustrates the principle:
- Drugs, Chemicals, and Medical Supplies receive a bonus of 35% from 25 boxes. This bonus occurs again at 50 boxes, resulting in a total bonus of 70% if you sell 50 boxes at once.
- Animal Materials, Art Objects, and Jewelry & Gemstones receive a 12% bonus for every 10 boxes (20 boxes = 24%, 30 boxes = 36%, etc.). This leads to a total bonus of 60% when selling 50 boxes at once.
- Tobacco & Alcohol and Counterfeit Goods receive a 5% bonus for every 5 boxes. This totals a bonus of 50% for a sale of 50 boxes at once.
You can see that your play style plays a significant role here. Are you in a hurry and just want to quickly get a few tens of thousands of dollars for ammunition? Then the product categories of Tobacco & Alcohol or Counterfeit Goods, where you receive the bonus starting from 5 boxes, are worthwhile.
Recommendation: If you have more time and want to earn money efficiently, use the categories with the 12% bonuses like Animal Materials, Art Objects, or Jewelry & Gemstones. These three categories “Animal Materials, Art Objects, and Jewelry & Gemstones” are our recommendation in this guide!
The categories with the 35% bonuses have a special twist, which we will go into in more detail in the next section.
Solo or Group
Which and how many products you should sell depends on whether you are playing alone or as a group. Depending on the size of the cargo to be sold, you must transport multiple vehicles from A to B as part of the sales mission. For single players, the lack of time to move many vehicles can then be a reason why the sales mission fails.
The GTA community found that the following scenarios generally occur in the sales mission of the hangars:
- Sale of 1 to 10 boxes – One vehicle. If it is the mission where you fly the Havoks, there will be 3 Havoks. If it’s the mission with the Ultralights, there will be 2 Ultralights.
- Sale of 11 to 25 boxes – Two vehicles. Havok: 12, Skylift: 4, Ultralights: 6
- Sale of 26 to 50 boxes – Three vehicles. Havok: 24, Skylift: 6, Ultralights: 9
- Bombushka missions always have only one vehicle
- Bombushka and Ultralight missions are not available for solo players.
Since the 35% bonuses only apply starting from 25 boxes, these products are more worthwhile in a group than for solo players. After all, you need to transport more vehicles from A to B to successfully sell the goods.
Hangar or Bunker – Where is more money to be made?
As explained at the beginning, the hangar is not the most profitable way to earn money in GTA 5 Online. These jobs are aimed at aircraft fans or players who already own a hangar.
You earn more money by working in the bunker. There, you acquire supplies and your team works passively for you while you are out as a CEO. The most common method is to produce supplies in the bunker while selling cars as a CEO through the import/export business.
