Godzilla has faced many enemies in his 71-year career. But now, the Marvel universe is in trouble, just because a silly villain dug in the wrong place.
Godzilla fights in the Marvel universe? Marvel and DC occasionally have crossovers with other universes or brands. For example, there have been comics featuring Fortnite.
In 2025, Marvel provided the giant lizard from Japan not only with individual one-shots featuring heroes like the Hulk, Spider-Man, or the X-Men. With Godzilla Destroys Marvel Universe, the great movie icon also got a 5-part series where the entire universe is at stake.
Godzilla seems invincible
How did this even happen? The villain Mole Man, whom you might know from the last Fantastic Four movie, found vibranium underground and built a staff that can fire a beam. But someone else was peacefully sleeping underground: Godzilla.
Thanks to Mole Man’s activities, Godzilla awakens in New York and begins his path of destruction. At the same time, a Celestial awakens on Earth. These are gigantic cosmic entities that can create new universes among other things. Therefore, they are among the most powerful creatures in the Marvel universe.
But that doesn’t seem to interest Godzilla, as he defeats the being without any issues. Heroes from all over the world evacuate the city and try to stop Godzilla. But that doesn’t seem to be working either. Even the almighty Thor is thrown into space by Godzilla with just one swipe of his tail.
In volume 2, the heroes even get help from some villains. But when Godzilla tries to fire his laser, all the characters are seen filled with fear and terror.
What can be done about it? Apparently, Godzilla is too powerful, as even in volume 2 there is a page that shows the year 2099. There, Godzilla still seems to be ravaging the Earth, and there is no option to take down the giant Kaijū. At least scientists in another universe have found a way to stop him.
What does MeinMMO comic fan Nikolas Hernes think of the comic series? I have only read issues 1 and 2 so far and had quite a bit of fun. You can tell from the dialogues and characters that despite the massive destruction, it’s not too serious a storyline, and that fits Godzilla really well in this case.
Furthermore, it is very refreshing to see all heroes and villains when they are completely frightened and have no chance against an enemy.
How can I read the comics? Issues 1 and 2 can currently only be read in English via the Marvel Unlimited subscription. Anyone else wanting to read the complete edition will have to wait until March 2026, when the English edition of Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe will be released with all 5 issues in one. Unfortunately, only in English.
