In Atlas, a fatal yet visually impressive bug has crept into the survival MMO. The ghost ships were equipped with continuously firing cannons. Much to the dismay of many players. The bug has since been fixed.
This is what happened: Grapeshot Games released patch 10.71 on January 9. It merely removed a cannon bug and an exploit and adjusted the glider protection. Just minor issues that no one would have paid much attention to if not for the fatal bug that had also come into play. Players on Reddit and YouTube are now reporting ghost ships that sink entire galleons in seconds with their continuous fire. Normally, ghost ships only fire every few seconds. With the bug, however, shells are raining down!
The YouTuber BattleNex and his crew are among the luckier players here. They managed to destroy the ghost ship before their brigantine was sunk. In the chaos, it’s almost a miracle. It still looks cool, though.
The crew of YouTuber 50ten wasn’t so lucky. Their galleon was targeted by a level 1 ghost ship and sunk in seconds. Attempts to repair the ship failed due to the sheer number of cannon hits. “This is totally ridiculous!” is the fitting reaction in the video.
Bug already fixed: The Atlas subreddit has been flooded with criticism. Players have lost hours or days of work in seconds. Grapeshot Games responded quickly and fixed the bug with patch 10.75.
With patch 10.0, another annoying problem was recently fixed in Atlas:
