In a few days, the open beta for Ghost Recon Wildlands‘ PvP mode “Ghost War” starts. In the video, you can see what to expect.
After the fight against the Santa Blanca drug cartel, the next battle awaits you in just a few days. To be more specific: Battles await you! You will then be able to try out the PvP mode “Ghost War” in the open beta phase.
The developers have just shared more information, including the start and end dates of the test and a cool gameplay video that already makes you excited for the mode.
Ghost War Open Beta PC, PS4 Xbox One – Start and End
The open beta for the Ghost War mode starts next week on September 21 on all platforms (PC, PS4, Xbox One) and will be active until September 25. During this time, you can thoroughly test the mode and find out if you like the new direction in Wildlands or not.
To ensure you can start on time, the preload actually begins beforehand. You can download the beta files starting from September 19.
Ghost War Release Date – When does the full version come out?
An exact release date for the Ghost War mode has not yet been set. Presumably, the developers are thoroughly using the testing phase to gather a lot of feedback and conduct analyses. The only thing that’s certain is that the free Ghost War update is expected to be released this fall.
Insight into the mode is provided by the Wildlands team in the following gameplay video. Get ready, ghosts!
The matches in Ghost War are 4v4 deathmatches without respawn. If you want to fight again after dying, you have to hope to be revived. You fight in a best-of-three format against other teams. The team that has 2 wins first wins the match.
In the open beta, five of the eight maps will be available. You will have access to six of the twelve special classes, which are divided into the categories Assault, Marksman, and Support.
Ghost War Class Overview
- In the Assault category, there is the Tank with heavy armor and an extra pack of health points. He is equipped with a light machine gun to suppress enemies. The new suppression mechanic with blurred vision is demonstrated in the video embedded above.
- If you don’t want to deal with suppression fire, play the Pointman class. These guys are immune to it. Strong flanking potential!
- If you prefer to play as a support, you can have fun with the Support classes. These can be equipped with drones to mark enemies. The Scout class can reveal enemies, and that’s important because …
Revealed enemies can then be bombed from existence with the … watch out: Artillery class! BOOM!
- Snipers can mark enemies with their scope. Good positioning is important as a sniper to keep the enemy in sight while not exposing too much of yourself.
- The Enforcer has a hefty LMG in his arsenal that provides even more suppression fire.
As you can see, revealing with drones is important. Knowing the enemy’s positions provides a clear advantage. Therefore, it’s also important to shoot down enemy drones to prevent your positions from being revealed.
If a team manages to capture the Recon Tower that activates in the middle of a match, it reveals the entire enemy team. The Snipers among you will appreciate this.
The six classes can be customized. The Tank, Pointman, Scout, Artillery, Sniper, and Enforcer classes can be fine-tuned with perks. For example, you can reveal an enemy simultaneously when you are revealed. Or you can increase your sprint speed.
What do you think about the outlook for the PvP mode? A welcome change for GRW and a reason to fire up the game again or just not your thing?
