German Twitch streamer launches his own marketplace for skins in Counter-Strike 2, immediately crashes

The German Twitch streamer ohnePixel (25) is a fixed constant in the worldwide Steam hit Counter-Strike 2. Between the years, on December 29, he has now announced that he will open his own marketplace for skins in Counter-Strike 2. It started off rocky.

Who is he?

• ohnePixel is the second largest Twitch streamer worldwide for Counter-Strike, only the Brazilian Gaules is ahead of him.
• ohnePixel streams in English – the largest German-speaking streamer for Counter-Strike was indeed MontanaBlack in 2023, who pursued Counter-Strike mainly for his joy in spinning wheels and opening loot boxes.
• But ohnePixel also has a passion for skins, as is known: In July, he cashed in $120,000 on boxes. Skins are a serious matter in Counter-Strike, they are traded for tens of thousands of dollars. The launch of Counter-Strike 2 has fueled the hype around skins once again.

That was the announcement: On December 29, ohnePixel tweeted that he now owns a skin marketplace for CS2 together with zipel, another skin nerd. On the site, you can buy, sell, or auction skins.

He had dreamed of this for years.

Site collapses under traffic load and fans mock and troll

That was the problem: When ohnePixel announced this, he peaked at 21,075 viewers on Twitch. His tweet reached 580,000 views. Apparently, many people who had read or seen this announcement wanted to go to the new marketplace immediately.

And the site collapsed under the rush.

ohnePixel then had to listen to some quips on Twitter that went like:

• “I27ll visit the site in 1 hour and 27 minutes.”
• Or: “There is also something called a stress test.”
• very friendly also: “Hopefully, you don27t lose as much money with skins as with NFTs.”

The streamer eventually reported, “We are working on it” and got the problem under control.

However, once things calmed down, some praised the streamer27s initiative: The traffic showed how far the Twitch streamer had come in his career.

This is a big “win” for the streamer.
