In Fortnite: Battle Royale there is a legendary mushroom that is so rare it is difficult to find. A German player found the mushroom and we at MeinMMO interviewed him about his special find.
What kind of mushroom is it? With the Update 13.20, there is a new mushroom on the Fortnite map.
This mushroom is legendary, and its appearance shows it, as it is completely golden. Anyone who finds and consumes this magical mushroom is said to be rewarded with 100 shield in one go.
Data miner HYPEX found some further information about the golden mushroom in the Fortnite data:
According to the data miner, the mushroom is not only extremely rare but also cannot be found in fruit boxes. You should only find it on the ground if you are lucky at all.
In Fortnite, there are already mushrooms and Slurp Mushrooms as instant items. Slurp Mushrooms recharge 5 shield per piece when you “eat” them. However, the legendary variant gives 100 shield and is therefore a welcome find.
German player has succeeded
Who found the mushroom? As likely one of the first players, the German YouTuber Bramdee found the legendary mushroom right on the day of the release of Update 13.20. He shared his find on his YouTube channel with the Fortnite community.
Here’s how the find went: MeinMMO asked the German YouTuber via email how his lucky find happened.
The player stumbled upon the mushroom during an arena round but couldn’t use it because he already had full shield. Therefore, he decided to take the mushroom with him in his inventory.
However, when the legendary mushroom landed in his inventory, it turned into a normal Slurp Mushroom, which is commonly found on the map. It is unclear whether this is a bug or if you must consume the golden mushroom immediately to benefit from it.
Was there a reward for the find? Although the player was very lucky to find the mushroom, he did not receive any reward for it. He neither unlocked an achievement nor gained XP for it.
This is quite strange because with the mythical goldfish, which is also very rare and hard to find, you could unlock 3 different achievements. It is also unclear whether this is related to a bug. Since the golden mushroom is so rare, there is currently not much information available about it. We will probably have to wait until a player finds it who can consume it immediately.
