In Albion Online, the developers have announced a major PvP update that is set to revise the existing system surrounding faction warfare and aims to ensure more fighting and less waiting. Game Director Moritz Bokelmann (shown in the featured image) discusses the upcoming changes.
What is this update about? With the major update “Realm Divided,” the German developers of Albion Online are focusing on the PvP aspects of the game. The MMORPG places a strong emphasis on PvP and features many battles in the endgame that are fought against other players.
The new update, set to be released on November 24, 2025, aims to improve faction warfare. Players can currently join a faction in the MMORPG and then fight together for territories.
However, because dying in Albion often comes with the loss of items, many groups avoid skirmishes and simply run past each other to capture territories without a fight. But that is set to change.
More fights, less running
What are the developers planning? The developers of Albion Online presented the new system for territorial battles in a video on YouTube. Game Director Moritz Bokelmann (visible in the featured image) explains that the focus of the PvP adjustments will be on more fighting and less running. To achieve this, the developers have first revised which areas will be fought over, aiming to create more confrontation.
Furthermore, the developers have also added new loot spots. In contested areas, there will be new crates that can only be opened after a certain period. Those who loot them will receive the items, but they must fight for them first.
As a third important point, the update introduces a new teleportation feature. It allows players to reach the action much faster and teleport close to contested areas. This prevents lengthy traversing of safe zones before reaching the front lines.
Additional rewards for Xbox Game Pass subscribers
What else is new? Albion Online is now also available on Xbox Game Pass (via AlbionOnline.com). Although the MMORPG is free to play, with an optional premium subscription, players who link their accounts with an active Xbox Game Pass account can receive free items.
Players receive 3 days of premium access, five boosters that enhance gained experience (fame) for three hours, 250,000 experience points (fame), and 200 charges for the victory emote. Unlike League of Legends or Valorant, where players continuously gain advantages with Game Pass, players in Albion do not receive any permanent bonuses or ongoing premium access.
The developers of Albion Online plan to discuss the major update again before the release of “Realm Divided” on November 24 and reveal further details.
