PRIM offers spooky adventures for Halloween, even impressing the streamer Gronkh, who dares to enter the point & click game on Steam.
The spooky season has begun, and with it come some eerie games. One of them is from Germany, developed by Common Colors, and is called PRIM. The game is currently getting special attention because the well-known streamer Gronkh is playing it in a series of Let’s Plays.
What kind of game is PRIM? PRIM is a classic old-school point & click adventure. This means that there are mainly many small puzzles to solve, where items must be found and combined. Dialogues with numerous NPCs are as much in the spotlight as exploring the rather dark game world.
As PRIM originally comes from Germany, it is also completely voiced in German. However, those who prefer English can switch the language.
What is PRIM about? The focus of the story is the namesake PRIM. The girl has finally found her father after a long time – who is none other than the personified Death, also known as Thanatos. Now Prim is doomed to spend time with him in the realm of the dead – something she absolutely dislikes. She devises a plan to outsmart Death and escape from there, even if it brings out her dark side.
The style of PRIM is reminiscent of Tim Burton’s films, such as “A Nightmare Before Christmas” or “Coraline”. The style is, on one hand, cute, but on the other hand, partly disturbing and eerie. Many inhabitants of the realm of the dead, for example, wear their eyes as earrings or occasionally lose limbs.
Gronkh plays PRIM in stream: “Now it’s a bit Daddy time”
PRIM is currently receiving special attention because the streamer Gronkh is engaging with it extensively and playing the game regularly in his stream. In his typical, rather calm style, Gronkh talks little during these streams and lets the story unfold, but occasionally shares thoughts on the plot or possible decisions.
The story of the daughter who cannot stand her (somewhat clumsy) father seems to appeal to him from the very beginning.
If you’re interested in PRIM, you can currently buy it for €20 on Steam. Since the release was only a few days ago, there are currently only a few reviews – but as of now, they are 95% positive.
If you don’t know whether PRIM is right for you, it might be worth taking a look at Gronkh’s Let’s Plays, which give a good impression of what the game is about and what makes its charm. It gets a bit more serious in a current thriller that deals with rather tough themes.
