The cooperative RPG Genshin Impact is set to become a service game and will be expanded with new content. This was revealed by one of the game’s developers. Early leaks already indicate which direction it will take.
What does the developer say? In an interview with IGN Japan, an employee from the developer MiHoYo revealed that the release version of Genshin Impact does not yet represent the final game. The cooperative RPG is set to be greatly expanded in the future:
The current version only represents a part of the content […] we will continue to develop even more content and gameplay while also releasing updates and optimizations. The game that goes online is therefore not the “final version,” but rather the “first step.”
One could say that the real work has just begun.
