Still in March, the new Patch 1.4 will be released in Genshin Impact. You can expect a new character, a new banner, and further innovations. MeinMMO provides an overview of the new content.
What are the highlights of Patch 1.4? In the new update “Invitation to the Winter Bloom,” you can expect these innovations:
- A grand festival, the Winter Bloom Festival
- The Venti and Tartaglia banners are returning
- New events
- Dates with other characters
- New 4-star character Rosaria

Patch 1.4 – Release, Time, Downtime
The update is expected to be released on March 17, 2021.
The exact times are not yet known. A preload should be possible from March 15.
Not much is known about the story yet
How does the story continue? So far, it is not clear how things will proceed. Developer miHoYo is keeping things close to the vest.
- The story of Dainsleif and the Archon Quest is expected to continue
- You and Dainsleif will travel to a new area where you will face the so-called Abyss Herald

New character “Rosaria, Thorny Benevolence”
What kind of character is this? The new character is Rosaria, a 4-star figure. Rosaria, like Barbara, is a member of the Church of Favonius and made her first appearance in the last patch.
She wields a polearm and uses the Cryo element. With her elemental abilities, she can quickly switch between multiple enemies.
The Wind Bloom Festival
What to expect in the new event: The festival consists of several mini-games that you need to complete to earn cool rewards. These include materials for upgrading your characters.
These include:
- A parkour
- A flying challenge
- Catching falling flowers.
- Pop balloons charged with various elements.
With Venti, one of the most popular characters returns
These banners are back with 1.4: The new update brings back two of the strongest characters. With Patch 1.4, you can play the banners of Venti and Tartaglia again.
Both are among the strongest characters in Genshin Impact in our character tier list. Venti is an extremely good supporter and also plays a major role in the story of Genshin Impact.
Fans mourned Venti when his banner was removed from the game. Many players spent a lot of money to get Venti and often came up empty-handed. Now these players get a new chance.
You can take characters on a date
What does that mean? Those who celebrate Genshin Impact characters now have the opportunity with Patch 1.4 to take some characters on a date. This is initially possible with four selected individuals:
- Barbara
- Noelle
- Bennett
- Chongyun
These dates can unfold in different ways and lead to various outcomes, depending on player choices. In the future, more events with other characters who can be invited on dates will follow.
To receive an invitation, however, you need to have completed the corresponding key moments in the story related to the respective characters.
More events in Patch 1.4
What other events are coming? In addition to the Wind Bloom Festival, there are more events related to the Wind Bloom:
- There will be a Wind Bloom story event where you have to choose a sacrifice for the Wind Archon
- There will be a series of side quests around the Wind Bloom Festival
- Wishful Drops: An Oceanid has contaminated the water supply of Mondstadt, which is intended for wine production. You need to help bring back the Oceanid and purify the water.
- Rohdeia, the Oceanid from Qincge, is also returning. You will have to face him.
- Upon success, you will be rewarded with Primogems
- Peculiar Wonderland: This is a new area with a powerful boss that you will face. There is a new, unique way to prepare for the fight.
- If you participate in the event, you will receive special tickets that you can exchange for unique rewards, including the new 4-star bow “Wind Bloom Ode.”
- Contending Tides: This event brings a kind of arena challenge to Genshin Impact.
- You will have to face enemies and complete other tasks, with the difficulty steadily increasing.
- These are divided into difficulties. The higher these are, the better the rewards but also the tougher the challenge.
QoL improvements and new weapons
What else is coming? Genshin Impact will receive several quality-of-life improvements with Patch 1.4.
- Crafting will be possible in co-op mode.
- The cap for enriched resin will be raised to 5. Recipes, forges, and alchemy can be assigned to specific characters. If you open the menu again later, the characters will be saved, and you won’t have to select them again.
- Additionally, cooking methods will be adjusted.
- The world level can be lowered. If you lower your world level, you will have to wait 24 hours before you can raise it again.
These are the new weapons: With Patch 1.4, there is a new 5-star bow, “Elegy of the End.” Additionally, there are several 4-star weapons:
- The Alley Flash (Sword)
- Alley Hunter (Bow)
- Wine and Song (Catalyst)
- Wind Bloom Ode (Bow)
