What phenomenon is being talked about? While other games are completed just 1-2 times and then gather dust in your library, ARPGs are constantly revisited by the same fans, at different intervals. Often, an update or a new season is to blame for this phenomenon.
For example, Diablo 4 with Season 10 introduces new mechanics like Chaos Uniques to the game, with which fans can receive effects of well-known Uniques on other types of gear – like the effects of a Unique pants that you can now wear on your head with the help of a helmet. This creates incentives to level up another character. To outsiders, it may sound absurd to keep playing “the same game” over and over, but many in the genre see it differently.

The user Servovestri states regarding Diablo 4: “Play for a few weeks, take the journey, get the relic treasure, and then go PLAY OTHER GAMES.”
Only a few play an ARPG throughout the entire season, and if this is the case, Servovestri suggests taking a break, as those individuals often complain about the same things.
The user OsmanFetish mentions that he and his friend even skipped the previous season of Diablo 4 to avoid burning out, but Season 10 now offers many new features that make another playthrough worthwhile.
Airsoft_Daniel also shares and describes his return as follows: “D4 typically takes a few weeks of my time each season, making it my most played live-service game. If I play 3–4 weeks per season, plus 6 months right after launch and about two months right after the expansion, then in my opinion, that’s a really good amount of content.”
Even though everyone has gone through the story of Diablo 4 countless times, it is more about the grind and the journey of a new character that reignites the spark of the community.
