The slasher game Friday the 13th: The Game (Xbox One, PC, PS4) is now live, and the carnage is a bit laggy, a bit buggy, but also terribly fun. Will this be the yearly “buggy summer hit” in 2017?
We have reported on “Friday the 13th: The Game” several times, a asymmetrical multiplayer game, where survivors have to deal with the killer Jason Voorhees from the “Friday the 13th” movies. That’s the guy with the hockey mask and a machete.
The game assigns one player the role of the killer, while the rest become “counselors” who must escape him. Through the “Preference” setting, anyone can set which role they prefer.
It resembles the game “Dead by Daylight” – but with the license from the famous slasher series. And the brutality is turned up to 11, as we know from the quite intense trailers.

The game is now live, and the demand is so immense, that it is causing server problems. The Kickstarter page states that they are being overwhelmed by “thousands upon thousands of players.” They have already brought new servers live.
Initial Reports: A Mix of Tag and Mortal Kombat
In the first playtest reports, the impression is that of a game, that still feels quite unfinished, but is already a lot of fun. PC Gamer describes a comic-like brutality reminiscent of Mortal Kombat. When the killer catches someone, the game seems to ponder: How can the killer kill his victim in the most spectacular and absurd way while in this position?
