In Fortnite you can assign your agents to the teams Ghost or Shadow. This not only unlocks various skin variants but also seemingly unconsciously influences the story of Season 2.

However, this choice between the two factions seems to influence the story of Season 2.
Your choice could influence the agent story
What happens in Fortnite when you choose? It seems that the decisions players make regarding Ghost or Shadow have an impact on the story, map, and loot.
So far, it was thought that your choice would only unlock a style variant for the respective skin.
The map changes after the choice
What has changed on the map? At the start of Season 2, we got new locations on the map. These are guarded by the mini-bosses and their henchmen.
Previously, these locations were either neutral or occupied by Team Ghost. However, there were henchmen hideouts that were guarded by Shadow.
However, players could already choose which team they wanted to assign agent Brutus to. After that, there were a few minor map changes with the Update 12.10.
The new location “The Grotto”, where the mini-boss Brutus is located, has now been taken over by Team Shadow.
You can also find the powerful, mythical mini-gun at Brutus.
You now find Brutus in his black suit and skull mask. His henchmen also all wear black suits and masks.
The location itself has also changed. The hill at the front side of “The Grotto” now has a skull face.
The weapon selection changes
Another change that is likely influenced by the choice is what weapons you find at the respective locations.
Team Ghost seems to prefer silenced weapons, while Team Shadow prefers stronger weapons.
So you can find the Heavy Sniper only at Shadow hideouts.
So if our decisions lead to the agent locations being taken over by a team, we also determine which weapons can be found there.
For players who wish that the Heavy Sniper is removed, it is not worth it to choose Team Shadow. This choice could significantly increase the frequency of the weapon.
At the new agent locations, however, you will still find the same 5 mythical weapons.
Actually, Team Ghost seemed to lead
Why did Team Shadow prevail? Epic created a survey on Twitter and asked players which team they would assign Brutus to.
Actually, more people chose Team Ghost there:
Either more players ultimately chose Team Shadow and were therefore able to take over the location Grotto, or the team with fewer votes always takes over.
Since you can now also assign TNTina to a faction, “The Rig” will likely change soon and be taken over by a team.
This could then provide more clues on how this voting system works.
If we can really influence the story of Season 2, we should pay more attention to our decisions.
