The online shooter Fortnite receives the fresh update 5.20 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and iOS after today’s maintenance. We take a look at the patch notes in English and find the Double Barrel Shotgun. The new mode “Constant Storm” is also coming. The PvE gets a Leecher protection.
In PvP, a new weapon and a fresh mode come with patch 5.20. Additionally, Epic nerfs C4 and changes the vending machines.
In PvE, they seem to want to eliminate the problem with leechers. These are players who sneak into difficult missions when they shouldn’t be there.
Dataminers have also read what skins, emotes, gliders, and other cosmetics will make their way to the Fortnite shop in the coming weeks:
Highlights of the patch notes for 5.20 for Fortnite Battle Royale
New mode “Constant Storm”: In the new limited-time mode, the storm behaves differently than usual. The storm shrinks over 15 minutes. There is no safe zone. Players must keep an eye on the storm. It causes 10 damage per second.
New weapon “Double Barrel Shotgun”: It causes 143/150 damage at extremely close range. The new weapon fires 10 pellets but has a wider spread. Epic promises: It packs a punch with its 2 shots. The weapon has a lower crit modifier (x1.25) and a cooldown of 2 seconds when switching weapons.
The idea behind the weapon seems to be to provide an ultimate weapon for close range, which does little at longer distances.
Less C4, more vending machines in Fortnite
Vending machines will be different: They will be more common, it will cost less resources to use them, and there should be rare vending machines more frequently. Here we have a map of the vending machines in Fortnite.
Remote explosives in smaller quantities: You will now only find 3 instead of 4 C4, and can only carry 6 instead of 10.
Bear is safe again: They apparently fixed the glitch with some costumes, like the Snuggle Specialist – which made aiming difficult.
Highlights of the patch notes for 5.20 for Fortnite: Save the World
More love for the Horde: For the secondary mode “Horde Challenge” in Fortnite: Save the World, there are more incentives. Epic is introducing a weekly challenge. This week you must defeat minibosses. As a reward, there is a legendary weapon with flintlock. If you repeat the quest, you’ll receive 75 Roadtrip Tickets as an apology.
Gifts: 3 birthday Llamas for everyone. Yeah. These things are quite valuable; in the game, they cost 1000 Roadtrip Tickets. The Llamas can contain all items from previous seasonal events. You can open the Llamas in the “Loot” tab.
Less waiting: When you have cleared all the camps in the “Destroy the Camps” mission, the mission ends. Previously, you still had to wait until the timer ran out.
More quests: A new side quest line has been introduced in Plankerton.
An end to leeching
Not so many leechers anymore: Epic has increased the “required rating” in Bru-Tal and Twine Peaks, basically the minimum level needed to join a mission. It seems the issue was that low-level players were logging into high missions where they contributed little and burdened their teammates. They want to prevent this now with a new “required rating”.
A new mystical hero for the shop: Ragnarok comes to the shop on August 9 – he can smash the ground. He is an explorer.
Here are the complete patch notes for Fortnite.
No major balance changes included, just slightly less C4. But it will be exciting to see how the double barrel shotgun is introduced in Fortnite BR. Recently, there have been complaints about balance:
