To Fortnite: Battle Royale today sees the release of the new Patch 8.40. This update includes the airplane again, albeit only in a new mode. Find out here in the English patch notes what the update brings.
This is included in the new Update 8.40: As already known from the announcements in the game, the infantry rifle receives a special epic and legendary version. Additionally, the controversial airplane X-4-Stormwing is back!
The features of the patch for 8.40 in PvP
New weapon – epic and legendary infantry rifle: The previously somewhat unpopular infantry rifle has been around in Fortnite for a while, but now you can also get it as an epic and legendary version.

- Ammunition: Medium
Item change – egg launcher: The grenade launcher is temporarily replaced by an egg launcher. This is a purely cosmetic change.
New game mode – Air Royale: In this limited-time duo mode, all players are in airplanes. They have three lives and if all three aircraft are destroyed, the game is over for you.
Players can respawn an unlimited number of times as long as there are still aircraft available. You can also steal other players’ aircraft to increase your lives.
Anyone who touches the ground dies. Landed aircraft also explode after a few seconds. Supply drops and repair kits fall from the sky and can be used there. The storm, by the way, comes from above and restricts the flight height!
New game mode – Food Fight – Deep Fried: This limited-time mode is basically the familiar food fight between burgers and pizza. You must destroy the opposing mascot. However, this time there is also lava that threateningly rises to add more dynamics.
New tournament on April 20 and 21 – World Cup Online Open: Week 2 of the qualification rounds is active on April 20 and 21. You can compete for the prize pool of a total of $1,000,000 and qualify for the finals in summer.
In the tournament, the aspect ratio of the screen cannot exceed 16:9.
Gameplay changes and bug fixes: Among other things, the following has been changed in the gameplay:
- You can now pet your pets!
- You now receive more bonus XP when playing with friends.
This is changing in Creative Mode: In addition to various new items and objects, there is an “Explosive Device” that you can blow up.

New hero – Plush Rascalloon Luna: A female rabbit soldier. She throws explosive eggs.
New hero – Brave Bunny Ken: A male ninja rabbit skin. He throws eggs instead of throwing knives.
New hero – Long Ear Marauder Jonesy: The legendary Easter soldier returns.
All new heroes are available in the shop from April 18, 2019.
New missions and systems – Beta Storm – Test Your Limits: This feature is back. There are now 6 instead of 4 racing waypoints.
New weapon – Easter Egg Launcher: Fires explosive eggs that act like mines and explode on contact.
