What’s happening today in Fortnite? The update 12.20 will be deployed today on all platforms. Fortnite Status announced the patch on Twitter.
Update 10:40 AM: The update 12.20 is available. We will show you in the German patch notes what has changed.
This update will hopefully fix some bugs and bring new content.
However, before players can go on their exploration, as usual, the servers will be shut down.
Fortnite servers will be shut down – when and for how long?
Downtime starts in the morning: The downtime for update 12.20 will start earlier today. At 8:30 AM German time, you can join a new lobby for the last time. At 9:00 AM, the servers will no longer be accessible, and Fortnite will be down.
How long will the maintenance last? Based on experiences from recent weeks and months, the work should be completed by around midday at the latest.
Technical issues or other delays may extend maintenance work. If that happens, you will find out here.
When will the patch notes be available? No patch notes for the Battle Royale mode have been released in recent weeks.

What new content does update 12.20 bring?
What new features will there be in the Battle Royale mode? The announcement from Fortnite Status did not provide any hints about what the update might bring. However, it is likely that some bugs will be fixed.
A leak was also found that suggests helicopters in Fortnite. These could now come into play with update 12.20.
What does the update bring for the “Save the World” mode? Players from the Save the World mode received a larger patch with the update 12.10. This allowed players to use cosmetic items from the Battle Royale mode.
What the new update will bring is unfortunately still unclear. However, Epic is working on a solution to allow reactive cosmetic items to be used in Save the World as well.
- You can influence the story of Season 2 by choosing Team Ghost or Shadow. Your choice could bring about some changes after this update.
- A bug ruined a player’s match right at the start. This could be fixed with update 12.20.
