Today, on May 1, the servers in Fortnite are scheduled to go down on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and iOS. A new patch will be deployed, bringing the new Season 4 and updating the game to version 4.0. Therefore, the servers will go offline. What will the new update contain? And when will Fortnite be back online today on this public holiday?
By today at the latest, the speculation surrounding the comet in Fortnite will come to an end! Because today, the new major update 4.0 will be deployed, which will bring, among other things, the new Season 4 in Fortnite: Battle Royale.
And what hasn’t been written and speculated about the comet, which has ominously hovered over the map in Fortnite for several weeks? With each update, the mysterious object grew larger. In the past few days, this culminated in meteor showers that destroyed everything in their path.
What exactly the comet will do today remains unclear – but with the update 4.0, we will all be wiser. Will the Tilted Towers really fall? Or will it hit Dusty Depot after all – as predicted by a leak?
Whether it will simply be a new game mode or superheroes announcing their arrival, something will happen for sure. However, before that, you will have to take an involuntary break.
Servers offline at 10:00 AM for maintenance in Fortnite
When will the maintenance for update 4.0 start? If everything goes as it has in the past weeks, matchmaking will be disabled at 09:30 AM.
At 10:00 AM German time, the servers will then be shut down. The maintenance began slightly earlier than planned. Around 9:40 AM, Epic Games took the Fortnite servers offline for maintenance.
Since about 10:25 AM, the update has already been available for download. It is approximately 2.3 GB on PS4 and 3.3 GB on PC. However, the servers are still offline. Patch notes for the update have not yet been released.

When will Fortnite be back online?
Since a larger update is being deployed, the maintenance may take a bit longer today. By around noon, the Fortnite servers on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and iOS should typically be back online.
Update: The patch seems to have gone through relatively quickly. Since around 11:30 AM, the Fortnite servers are back online, and numerous new pieces of information are coming in. We will cover the Fortnite Season 4 start on Mein-MMO.de all day long.
What to expect in today’s Fortnite update for Battle Royale and PvE?
What will the update bring to Fortnite: Battle Royale? Most likely, you can expect a new Battle Pass, a new theme, and tons of new cosmetic items.
Additionally, there will probably also be new challenges in Season 4 that you will have to overcome. The “Impact” mode should likely appear soon, which has been hinted at for a while with “Brace for Impact” – get ready for the impact.
What will the update bring in the “Save the World” mode? Recently, Epic released a roadmap for the coming weeks. Therefore, update 4.0

- Shadow Ops heroes,
- military weapon set, and a new
- soldier ability
will bring. In a later patch, PvE players can look forward to perk rerolling in the coming weeks – a long-awaited functionality.
A new game mode called Blockbuster is already announced for “Save the World” and will likely start directly with the new patch 4.
Note: As today is a public holiday in many countries, long queues in Fortnite are likely after the update. If you encounter such a queue, patience is required.
