In Fortnite the servers are going down today, March 29, on all platforms (PC, Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, Android). The maintenance work is being used to upload Update 24.10 to the servers.
What is happening today in Fortnite? Epic Games is shutting down the servers for Season 2 Chapter 4. This update is most likely the Easter update, which should bring new items and skins into the game. In the meantime, we will accompany the maintenance and keep you informed about the ongoing downtime.
What new content does the update bring?
“Freaky Spring” missions with gifts: Fortnite also provides you with appropriate events for Easter, such as the Freaky Spring. This event gives you 6 items that you can earn:

- Reward for Day 1 mission: Back accessory “Flower Backpack”
- Reward for Day 7 mission: Spray design “Shellcracker”
- Reward for Day 9 mission: Loading screen “Cooldog”
- Reward for Day 12 mission: A “Freaky Spring” banner icon
- Reward for completing 12 missions: Pickaxe “Flower-Banhammer”
- Reward for completing 22 missions: Glider “Spring Flyer”!
The event runs from March 29 to April 11 and provides you with new missions daily.
New items for Easter: For Easter, there are now also colorful chickens and eggs that you can find on the map.
Green eggs provide you with health, while blue eggs make you weightless. Golden eggs cannot be consumed and only give you gold. However, the Egg Launcher, an explosive weapon, has been brought back from the vault.
New reality expansions:
- Speed Fight – You regenerate health and part of your shields on grind rails and zip lines, as long as you are not in the storm.
- All or Nothing – Grants a chargeable shotgun and a stone throw pistol.
- Water Fight – You move faster while swimming and regenerate health and part of your shields, as long as you are not in the storm.
- Banner Icon – Grants a pizza party and some drink packs.
Companions and Specialists: In Fortnite, the companions and NPCs as well as their collection have been revamped. Now you can also find NPCs in your collection that you haven’t unlocked. Additionally, Epic has thrown eight specialists onto the map who offer you the following advantages:
- Scout Specialist: Scouts take out enemies from a distance with a sniper rifle and can ping nearby enemies and chests.
- Artillery Specialist: Thanks to their explosive weapons, artillery specialists can make things fly up with a loud bang! They can also take more damage than other specialists.
- Supply Specialist: Supply specialists leave ammunition and materials for you (Note: In “No Building” mode, you won’t receive materials from them).
- Medic Specialist: Hired medics heal you with drink packs that restore your health and shields.
Super Styles have been unlocked: Players who are now over level 125 can unlock more skin styles for “Thunder”, “Imani”, “Renzo the Destroyer”, “Mizuki”, and “High Voltage”.
Sensitivity When Building and Editing
In V.24.10, options for sensitivity in building mode and sensitivity when editing were added to the “Mouse and Keyboard” settings in Fortnite. Thanks to these new options, you can now set the sensitivity when building or editing buildings to your desired speed.
OTHER UPDATES
- The turning radius of the vehicle “Rogue Motorcycle” has been improved at higher speeds.
- Note: Epic has made some minor adjustments to reduce power consumption on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The frame rate in the lobby is now lowered to 30 FPS when you haven’t been active for a while, but will be raised back to 60 FPS once you touch the controller or join a match.
COMPETITION NOTES
- The chickens and eggs from Freaky Spring as well as the Egg Launcher and the reality expansion “Spring Gift” are not available in competitive game modes.
- “No Building” cups, Duo Cash Cups, and Victory Cups will start this week. Good luck, competitors!
IMPORTANT BUG FIXES
- A bug was fixed that caused players to be prompted to install Save the World, even though the game was already installed.
- A bug was fixed that prevented the owner of a kinetic blade from taking fall damage when using “Knockback Strike”. (Note: “Sprint Attack” still prevents fall damage.)
- A bug was fixed that caused some mobile devices to be limited to 60 FPS, even though 90 FPS was available.
- The grind rail interaction button no longer has a delay on mobile devices.
- A bug was fixed that caused Epic Games to temporarily disable zip lines in Party Royale. Zip lines are now available again in Party Royale.
Fortnite: Server Down – When and how long are they offline?
This is the downtime in the morning: According to Epic Games, the servers are expected to be shut down at 10:00 AM German time to install a hotfix. Matchmaking is already disabled 30 minutes prior, so you won’t be able to search for new rounds from 9:30 AM.
When can you play again? This is a major update. It is therefore likely that Epic Games could bring the servers back online at 11:00 AM or even at 1:00 PM. However, this is not confirmed.
We will update this post as soon as a start time is known or if we have new information.
When will the patch notes be available? Epic Games usually releases a short list of patch notes on their page after the update. If that happens, we will summarize them here for you in a clear and concise manner.
What content could be coming with Update 24.10?
Epic Games reveals hardly any new information about upcoming content before a new update. Trustworthy leakers like Shiina have been keeping an eye on the hidden data for quite some time and know approximately what players can expect this time. You can expect the following:
- New cosmetic items
- An Easter event
- New augments
- The crew pack for April
- A new “Smart Pistol” weapon?
- More content for the battle pass and new collaborations
First (leaked) images of the content were shown by Shiina in the tweet:
This time, it’s more of a major maintenance that could most likely bring some new skins to the shop. Stay tuned for the patch notes or leaks to be released.
