In Fortnite, the servers will be down on all platforms (PC, Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, Android) today, January 31. The maintenance work is being used to load update 23.30 on the servers.
What is happening today in Fortnite? Once again, the servers will be taken offline in Fortnite. However, this is a larger update that is expected to fix some issues in the game and possibly introduce new items.
The servers are now active again and you can log in as soon as your download is complete.

What new content will the update bring?
New “Dragon Ball” collaboration: With update 23.30, Epic Games has once again collaborated with Dragon Ball. This time, Son Gohan and Piccolo have made it into the game with their own unique items.
New reality extensions: Fortnite is still deep in Season 1, and therefore, you have 5 new reality extensions with the following enhancements:
- Shield Break – Whenever your shields break, you will be propelled into the air with a brief delay through a rift.
- Shadow Assassin – Gain the ability to find shadow bombs through eliminations and in containers.
- Icy Glide – After sliding, you will temporarily receive an icy speed boost.
- Field Cuts – Foliage that you destroy drops bush bombs and instant items. Additionally increases the effectiveness of used instant items.
- Mythical Ammo – Gain a mythical pistol.
Weekly tasks are being adjusted: At the release of Chapter 4 Season 1, players had to hurry with their weekly tasks. When a new week began, the old ones disappeared and were then replaced with new tasks.
Epic Games has now scrapped this. Players who cannot complete their weekly tasks due to time constraints can still do so until the end of Season 1.
Other updates:
- Wind tunnels will be disabled in Battle Royale/Zero Build during V.23.30.
- The reality extension “Storm Forecast” has been adjusted to only show the next three storm circles after being selected, rather than all future storm circles.
Competitive Notes:
- The items “Kamehame Ha” and “Jindujun (Kintoun)” are not available in competitive game modes.
- The reality extension “Shield Break” is not available in competitive game modes.
- The FNCS Major 1 starts on February 2.
Important bug fixes in Battle Royale:
- The Guardian Shield now blocks the ability “Dekus Smash”.
- A bug has been fixed that temporarily disabled the reality extension “Flight Lesson”. This reality extension is now reactivated.
- Some movement-related bugs have been fixed.
- Players who own the Battle Pass and unlocked the back accessory “Noble Cape” before V.23.20 will now receive the back accessory.
- The physics properties of the cape on the outfit “Joni the Red” should function correctly.
- The helmet of the outfits “Battle Hound” and “Volcanic Battle Hound” will be displayed correctly.
- Players can use emotes again after an epic victory.
- Players no longer take fall damage when sliding and using the Shockwave Hammer.
- On touch devices, the Falcon Drone no longer moves up or down without the player touching a button.
Fortnite: Server Down – When and how long are they offline?
This is the downtime in the morning: The servers are expected to be taken offline at 10:00 AM German time according to Epic Games to install a hotfix. Matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes prior, so you will not be able to search for new matches from 9:30 AM.
When can you play again? This is a relatively large update. It is therefore likely that Epic Games will bring the servers back online at 11 AM or possibly 12 PM. However, this is not confirmed.

What content could appear with update 23.30?
Epic Games reveals hardly any new information about upcoming content before a new update. Trusted leakers like Shiina have been keeping an eye on the data hidden for a long time and have a good idea of what players can expect. This time, you can expect the following items:
However, there is no guarantee that this content will actually be included in the update. If there are problems, Epic Games may remove some of it and only release selected content. However, this has been quite rare in the past.
