Although Patch 8.20 for Fortnite is still a few days away, Epic Games already gives an outlook in the patch notes on what will change. The update addresses some serious bugs.
What does Patch 8.20 bring? In Fortnite, players are currently struggling with many bugs. The new pirate cannons aim wherever they want. Some players become invincible when lying on the ground. Others cannot unfreeze their feet. Fortnite aims to tackle many of the current errors in Patch 8.20.
These bugs will be fixed: On Reddit, Community Coordinator MrPopoFTS showed which bugs are likely to be fixed in the upcoming update. This involves many issues that the community brought to the developers’ attention.
- A problem with the grappler is being fixed. It was possible to deal damage to players standing behind a wall
- A problem with frozen feet is also being fixed. They retained the effect for an infinite amount of time when using emotes during that time
- Traps now deal their damage to the Kugler vehicle first, instead of immediately to the driver
- A rare bug is expected to be addressed, in which players lying on the ground become invulnerable and cannot be eliminated
- Players who are passengers in a vehicle should now also be able to select building materials
The bug with the invulnerable player occurred in a $500,000 tournament.
These issues with the cannons will be fixed: All over the map of Fortnite, you can find cannons in Season 8. At the pirate camps as well. However, the cannons are not working properly, which is why the following issues will be addressed:
- Sometimes players fly in a different direction than they aimed with the cannon when they launch themselves
- Players sometimes cannot enter the cannons if they are too close to other structures

This means that not everything mentioned here may actually be fixed in Patch 8.20. “There can always be a bug fix that doesn’t work as we envisioned it or doesn’t make it into the patch,” writes MrPopoTFS.
