In Fortnite today, on Tuesday, August 6th, the servers were taken down for maintenance. New content is expected before the end of Chapter 5 Season 3. What you should know about the downtime is explained here.
Patch Notes for Patch 30.40
LEGO-Fortnite
New Fast Travel: The Battle Bus in LEGO-Fortnite can be used to quickly travel from one stop to another. Use the new stops that are already there or build your own with Rift Shards.
New World Settings: All settings except the mode (Relaxed, Survival, Sandbox, Expert) and player elimination can now be changed. Here are a few important notes:
- This does not apply to the locked settings in Expert mode.
- When you eliminate enemies (including Stormwild enemies), existing enemies will not disappear until you defeat them or leave the area.
- If you eliminate friendly creatures or villagers, the existing ones will not disappear until you leave the area.
There are new toys: With Patch 30.40, Fortnite is also bringing new toys for your LEGO world. The following are known:
- Pressure Plate: Pressing this button can turn on channels. To make it work, you need to stand on the plate.
- Trigger Field: Another button that can turn on channels. Unlike the pressure plate, you do not have to continuously stand on the trigger field. Nozzles will eventually turn off by themselves.
- Unlock the recipe for the Trigger Field by adding Gunpowder to your inventory.
- Activated Balloon (Small): A small balloon that is not inflated at first. You can inflate it using the channel function!
- Unlock the recipe for Activated Balloon (Small) by crafting a loom.
- Activated Balloon (Large): The same as an Activated Balloon (Small), just bigger.
- Unlock the recipe for Activated Balloon (Large) by crafting a loom.
Important Adjustments and Improvements:
- New Vehicles
- Race through your world in a Racer or find your own way in the Terrain Overflyer – two new vehicles being introduced in V.30.40.
- Collect your discoveries in the Codex
- Things you find will appear in your Codex. Get information about your discoveries, hints about things you still need, and track your progress on recipes you’re working on. Can you find them all?
- Map Improvements
- You can now zoom out much farther on the world map and pan around your entire world.
- If you play with a controller, you can control the map with a virtual cursor.
- You can ping the map, which places a marker in the world to aid you in your travels.
- User Interface Updates
- 30.40 increases your inventory to 32 slots.
- Filter items in the building menu by theme or set to quickly find what you’re looking for.
- Name your worlds and villages as you like.

What happens with Patch 30.40? Today Epic Games is taking the servers down for maintenance. You will not be able to play Fortnite during the downtime, so be prepared.
This time, according to the teaser from Epic Games, a “Fall Guys” collaboration is supposed to take place. Unfortunately, further information regarding this is not yet known. When the downtime begins and what other content will be released with Patch 30.40, you will find out in the next part.
Fortnite: Start and Duration of Server Down
Server Down in the Morning – What You Need to Know: Epic Games has announced the server down for Fortnite and has set it to 10:00 AM German time. Matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes before the servers are shut down – so you can no longer start new rounds during this time.
When will the servers be back online? This depends on the size and scope of the update. If there are no complications, you can expect a two-hour downtime. However, it may also be the case that the server down lasts until around 1:00 PM or 2:00 PM. We will keep you updated in that case.
When are the patch notes coming? Epic Games is currently only sporadically publishing their patch notes for the “Battle Royale” mode. If they are available, they will only be published after the downtime. We will list the patch notes as soon as Epic Games publishes them.
What content could be released with Update 30.40?
Some information about new collaborations has already leaked, and it is known that Fall Guys is set to appear in Fortnite. However, what you can precisely expect, we have listed here (via x.com):
