In Fortnite went down today, May 17th, the servers on all platforms (PC, Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, Android). The maintenance is being used to load update 24.40 onto the servers.

What is happening today in Fortnite? Epic Games is taking down the servers for Season 2 Chapter 4. According to the developers, the new ranked mode will be implemented with the update. Additionally, some leakers believe that new skins and a possible live event could be hidden in the data. You will find out all the leaks, content, and when the servers go offline in the next part of the post.

What new content does update 24.40 bring?
Balance adjustments
- The material limits will be reduced from 999 to 500.
- The harvesting speed will be slightly increased.
- Players will drop 50 of each material when they are eliminated.
- The target acquisition pistol and thunder spears damage has been increased.
- The acquisition speed of the target acquisition pistol and its fire rate between volleys have been increased.
- Thunder spears now explode faster once the fuse is lit.
- The reality augmentation “storm forecast” has been put in the vault for tournaments.
Important bug fixes in 24.40
- Improvements are still being made as some large rocks on the battle royale island do not yield as many materials as intended.
- A bug that prevents players from being healed with slurp juice after being downed will be fixed.
- Back accessories equipped with the “Clone Trooper” outfit will no longer appear detached.
- The head movement of the “Clone Trooper” outfit will no longer be blocked.
- A bug causing some outfits to shine will be fixed.
Trios have been removed: Epic Games has decided to put the “Trio” mode into the vault in all modes. Whether this is temporary or permanent is unclear.
Fortnite: Server Down – When and how long will they be offline?
This is the downtime in the morning: According to Epic Games, the servers are expected to be shut down at 09:00 AM German time. Matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes prior, meaning you won’t be able to search for new rounds from 8:30 AM.
When can you play again? This is a major update. It is therefore likely that Epic Games could bring the servers back up at 11:00 AM or even 1:00 PM. However, this is not confirmed.
When will the patch notes come? Epic Games usually publishes a short list of patch notes on their site after the update. If that happens, we will briefly summarize them here for you.
What content could appear with update 24.40?
Epic Games reveals hardly any new info about upcoming content before a new update. However, trusted leakers like Shiina have been keeping a close eye on the data that is hidden from regular users and have a rough idea of what to expect this time. You can expect the following:
- New cosmetics
- Ranked mode
- Spider-Verse collaboration
- Deactivation of the arena mode
- New augments (maybe)
- Chapter 4 Season 3 – Starter pack
- Changes to how many materials you can hold (only in building mode)
- Update of the crew skin for June
- Leaks for a live event (if there is one)
