In Fortnite, the servers are down today, November 15, across all platforms (PC, Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, Android). The maintenance is being used to upload the new Update 22.40 to the servers. Preliminary patch notes for the update can be found here.
What is happening today in Fortnite? Again, the servers in Fortnite are being taken offline. This is the last update for Season 4. After this, the BR shooter is preparing for its live event and the upcoming Chapter 4.
Additionally, the story behind Season 4 could be continued. Patch 22.40 could thus bring new quests, items, weapons, and more to the map to prepare you for the upcoming “Nothing”.
Patch notes for Update 22.40
Collaboration with Rocket League: Fortnite is having another crossover with Rocket League. Players can cruise with the Octane on the BR map and run over many opponents with it.
New item – The Grappler: With the Grappler, you can pull yourself towards walls or floors like with any other grappler, and this time even pull your glider out of your pocket. A new gadget that will certainly help you escape from tight situations.
New LTM – 40vs.40: Fortnite has a new limited-time mode where two teams of 40 players each face off. The new mode starts at 4 PM German time. So if you’re up for a massive battle, you should definitely try this mode.
Combat Lab is being Vaulted: The Combat Lab will no longer be found in the game starting from Version 23.00. Instead, you can select the still current BR map in the Creative mode starter islands and design or explore it as you wish.
Fire button changed on mobile devices: Players can no longer interact with things using the fire button. Additionally, new symbols for eating and drinking will be implemented for mobile devices.
Competitive notes: The Octane from the crossover with Rocket League is not available in competitive game modes.
Important bug fixes: A bug has been fixed that caused certain outfits from Battle Passes from previous seasons to be missing colors.
Fortnite: Server Down – When and how long are they offline?
This is the downtime in the morning: According to Epic Games, the servers are expected to go down at 10:00 AM German time to install Update 22.40. Matchmaking is already disabled 30 minutes prior, so you won’t be able to search for new rounds after 9:30 AM.
When can you play again? The servers are usually offline for several hours during such maintenance work, and playing is then not possible. The downtime is expected to last between 30 minutes and 2 hours. This has been shown by recent updates.
During such maintenance work, there can also always be technical problems, bugs, and delays. Should such complications occur, we will immediately report them here.
