In Fortnite today, on August 30, the servers are down on all platforms (PC, Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, Android). The maintenance work is being used to upload the new update 21.50 to the servers. Preliminary patch notes for the update can be found here.
What is happening today in Fortnite? This time you can expect a patch. Therefore, the servers will be taken offline for maintenance and the new patch 21.50.
The patch brings new skins, wild weapons, and possibly changes to the map. To ensure you don’t miss anything, we at MeinMMO will regularly update this article throughout the day for you.
Fortnite: Server Down – When and how long is it offline?
This is the downtime in the morning: The servers are expected to be shut down at 10:00 AM German time to install update 21.50. Matchmaking will already be disabled 30 minutes prior, so you won’t be able to search for new rounds from 9:30 AM.
When can you play again? The servers are typically offline for several hours during such maintenance, and playing will not be possible. The downtime is expected to last between 30 minutes and 2 hours. This has been shown by the updates of the past weeks.
During such maintenance, there can also always be technical problems, bugs, and delays. If such complications occur, we will report them here immediately.
When will the patch notes be released? Epic Games has not been releasing many or any patch notes for a while. However, community members often find and report changes quickly. If important changes come, we will add them to the article for you.
What new content does update 21.50 bring?
What’s new for the Battle Royale mode? So far, we don’t have any specific information, but leakers have often proven to be reliable sources with their predictions. These patch notes were published by Epic Games:
“Shadows of Phantasma” Week
Epic Games is once again providing you with cool suppressed weapons from the vault, as well as gadgets that will help you fight like a shadow. In addition, you will receive quests that significantly boost your battle pass and reward you with XP. You have from August 30 to September 7 to complete the tasks.
Dragonball isn’t over yet
The collaboration between Fortnite and Dragonball has ended, yet anime items are still appearing on your battlefield. So, if you want to quickly escape with a cloud or pulverize your opponents with a Kamehameha, you still have the chance.
No more Impostor mode
Fortnite has now officially removed the Impostor mode and placed it in the vault. Epic Games stated that they want to focus on ongoing projects, and therefore they thank all the players who enjoyed the mode. Whether the mode will ever return is uncertain.
Competitive notes
- The changes from the “Shadows of Phantasma” week will also be included in competitive game modes.
- The Late Game Arena will start during the day. You can find more information about it in our blog post about the Late Game Arena.
- The “No Build” arena has been disabled.
Important bug fixes
- A bug has been fixed where the health and shield bars did not reflect the correct values after taking damage.
- A bug has been fixed where the Kamehameha was recharged to three full charges when dropped by an eliminated player.
- The fire mode option “Custom Key” on mobile devices now works correctly. If the option is disabled, the custom shoot button will automatically be hidden in the game if context allows it.
- If the equipped weapon/item does not support the currently selected fire mode (e.g. a melee weapon cannot fire automatically), the custom shoot button will still be displayed.
These changes have been reported by leakers:
Say goodbye to the Impostor mode
The Fortnite leaker Shiina and other trusted insiders announce that after patch 21.50, the Impostor mode will be pushed into the content vault. So, after the downtime, you will not be able to play the Impostor mode for a long time.
New skins for the item shop
Fortnite is once again bringing cool new skins and dances to the item shop. This includes some iconic items, dances, and even a Pride skin.
Double jump coming soon to Fortnite?
Data analysis also found a new icon for visualized sounds, indicating that you may soon be able to perform a double jump. When or how this new feature will be implemented in Fortnite is not yet known.
