In Fortnite, the servers will go down today, July 18, on all platforms (PC, Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch, Android). The maintenance is being used to load the new update 21.30 onto the servers. Preliminary patch notes for the update can be found here.
What is happening today in Fortnite? This time you can expect a patch. For that, the servers will be taken offline for maintenance and for the new patch 21.30.
The patch brings new skins, wild weapons, and possibly changes to the map. To ensure you don’t miss anything, we at MeinMMO will regularly update this article throughout the day for you.

Fortnite: Server Down – When and how long is it offline?
This is the downtime in the morning: The servers are expected to go down at 10:00 AM our time to install update 21.30. The matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes beforehand, so you won’t be able to search for new rounds after 9:30 AM.
When can you play again? The servers are usually offline for several hours during such maintenance work, making it impossible to play. The downtime is expected to last between 30 minutes and 2 hours. This has been shown by updates from past weeks.
During such maintenance, there can always be technical issues, bugs, and delays. If complications arise, we will inform you immediately here.
When will the patch notes be released? Epic Games has been publishing little to no patch notes for a while now. However, community members often find and verify changes quickly. However, if there are still important changes, we will include them in the article for you.

What new content does update 21.30 bring?
What’s new for the Battle Royale mode? So far, we don’t know anything concrete, but leakers have often proven to be reliable sources with their predictions. The following things have already been leaked:
New summer skins – leak
Epic Games has not forgotten the summer event and is bringing some cool skins to the BR shooter for this occasion. These will be available either through challenges or the item shop over time.
New weapons and items – leak
The summer update also introduces a new shotgun and an item to the game. Whether these will be available after the server downtime is still unknown.
New crew pack pickaxe
According to Shiina, players will be able to upgrade a pickaxe in their crew pack. How and when this will happen is still unknown.
Summer event items – leak
The summer event also brings some items that you can earn for free. This year, according to Shiina, a glider will be included as well. However, we will know more after the downtime.

New weapon – first-shot shotgun
The first-shot shotgun deals the most damage with the first shot after being fully loaded! While the remaining three shots are not as powerful as the first, the damage of all three rounds is equal.
Of course, you can always check the ammo display to see how many shots you have left, but you also receive this information through the lights on the side of the shotgun.
Upcoming summer event
Epic Games mentions in its blog post that a summer event is coming soon. So keep an eye out for hints on the map.
Superstyles and more variants
The superlevel styles of this season have received an update! You can now select the styles “Platinum Rift”, “Blue Slurp”, and “Aura Glow” for all other variants of Malik, Evie, Adira, Sabina, and Stormsurfer.
Competitive notes
- The first-shot shotgun is not available in competitive game modes.
- “Zero Build” arena now has shield theft. When you eliminate a player, you immediately receive 50 shield points.
Important bug fixes
- A bug was fixed where pocket rifts did not create a rift and were still consumed. This bug occurred when switching items too early while activating the pocket rift.
- A bug was fixed where weapon crosshairs changed size according to the HUD size.
- A bug in team rumbles was fixed, preventing players from using tents.
- A bug on Nintendo Switch was fixed where players froze after sliding or climbing.
- A bug in competitive game modes was fixed where storm sickness was reset when respawning at a teammate.
- On July 12, 2022, fixed via hotfix:
- A bug was fixed that reset players’ audio settings to 0.
- A bug was fixed that prevented players’ settings from being saved correctly.
