The big innovation of Fortnite with Season 7 is airplanes. This now offers Battle Royale dogfights, which are actually known from Battlefield. We show a map with the spawn points where you can find airplanes in Fortnite. We also introduce the X-4 Stormwing and provide some initial tips.
This is the innovation: With the big patch 7.0 on Thursday, airplanes came to Fortnite for the first time.
- The airplane is the “X-4 Stormwing”
- The airplane seats one pilot and up to 4 passengers, who travel on the wings as “wingmen”
- The Stormwing has a built-in machine gun – it works similarly to the turrets that caused so much stress in November
- The airplane can take sharp turns or even fly upside down – ideal for evasive maneuvers
Fortnite Meets Battlefield
This is the special thing: There has never been anything like airplanes in Fortnite Battle Royale before. All previous vehicles were land-based.
Although Fortnite is already a vertical game with items like the “Grappler” or the focus on building, it goes up a lot. Actual air battles with the airplanes are now new. Shooter fans only know this from games like Battlefield 5.
In the initial hours, many players had to get used to how the airplane is controlled and became crash pilots during that time.
There are numerous airplanes to find on the map, so it happens that dogfights break out where multiple pilots duel in the air.
Map with 12 Spawn Points of Airplanes in Fortnite
Where are the new airplanes in Fortnite? The streamer and reddit user Squattingdog has published a map. It shows 12 spawn points where there are airplanes in Fortnite. It is noticeable that especially in the southwestern, newly revised snowy corner of the map, many airplanes can be found.
Among them is the airplane that is hanging in the Yeti Cave of Fortnite, which we recently presented to you.
Additionally, the ziplines and their paths are marked on the map, another new feature of Season 7.
Facts about the airplane: The YouTuber “Geezry” has compiled some facts about the X-4 Stormwing in a video:
- So the airplane has 800 health points and can withstand 26 to 30 shots from a rifle
- The airplane in Fortnite can fire for about 6 seconds continuously before the machine gun overheats and needs to cool down
- By performing barrel rolls, it is possible to become a smaller target. This gives advantages in direct air combat
- Like the Quadcrasher, the airplane can fly through buildings or structures and destroy them when the boost is active
