In Fortnite: Battle Royale you can unlock a cool Halloween cosmetic by completing the Nightmares challenges. We will show you what it is and how you can get it.
What kind of cosmetic is it? Currently, the Fortnite Nightmares, the Halloween event in the game, is active. There are corresponding challenges that you can complete.
By completing the tasks, you can unlock some cool Halloween items for your character. One of them is the back accessory: Bobo. It is a crazy monkey that you can carry on your back.
Free accessories are rare: Normally, players receive back accessories when they purchase a complete skin that comes with a back piece. Occasionally, such an item is offered individually in the shop, but this is quite rare.
However, for this cool monkey, players only need to complete a nightmare task, which is available to every player and comes at no cost.
Unlocking the Bobo back accessory – Here’s how
What do you need to do? As mentioned above, you should complete one of the Nightmares challenges. Specifically, this task refers to: Consume legendary loot as a shadow.
For this, you first need to become a shadow in the game. This is easy, just be eliminated. Whether in a fight with another player or if you fall from a height and take massive damage.
Once you have been eliminated, you automatically become a shadow and can land again at a location on the map.
As a shadow, you can roam around the map, raid vehicles, attack players, or consume loot. For this task, you should do exactly the last one.
How to consume loot as a shadow? While you are floating around the map, you will continually discover loot that has either not been picked up or comes from a player who was previously eliminated.
When you approach this loot, you can interact with it and consume the items. It looks as if your shadow is “eating” the item. It’s actually quite simple, but for this task, 4 players are recommended.
It gets more difficult because you need to consume a legendary (gold) item. Since this loot is rarer to find, you need to search stricter. So if you have trouble finding a suitable item, team up with your friends to look for it.

- Kaaras suggests upgrading a weapon at an upgrade bench to gold rarity, then self-eliminating and consuming the upgraded weapon as a shadow
Once you have consumed a gold item as a shadow, the task is completed and you will receive the cool Halloween cosmetic in your locker.
In another task, you need to visit various witch houses, which you can also do as a shadow.
