According to an Epic employee who revealed on Reddit, the crackling campfire in Fortnite: Battle Royale will soon be fundamentally overhauled. You will no longer just find the fires as items, but everywhere on the map, and this will heal you.
Typically, Epic keeps quiet about future plans regarding Fortnite: Battle Royale. However, the employee EpicRook has now revealed on Reddit what plans Epic has regarding the campfires in Fortnite. Some significant changes are apparently coming – soon.
What exactly does the campfire do? Those who find this item in the wild can place it on any solid surface to regenerate life within 25 seconds.
So far, the use of campfires has mainly been limited to maintaining the upper hand in the final storm circle. A cleverly placed fire can make the difference between life and death.
This is what Epic plans for even more campfire romance: Epic apparently wants to expand the use of campfires. In the future, you should also be able to ignite campfires that you find on the ground in the wild.
For this to be worthwhile, Epic will place additional campfires on the map that players can ignite.
From the moment of activation, such a campfire will behave exactly like the campfire item that you can now find: You will then be able to heal yourself by the campfire.
However, a campfire that has been ignited cannot be reactivated. This will also be visually represented.
What do we not yet know about the “new” campfires? It is unclear whether the healing from campfires activated on the map applies to all nearby players or only to the one who lit the fire (or their team).
It is also uncertain whether Epic will make further changes regarding the amount of the healing effect. We will have to wait for the official announcement on this.
Will the biggest wish of the players come true? Since the introduction of campfires, Fortnite players have wished that Epic makes the campfire as realistic as possible. An ignited fire should produce a plume of smoke that is visible from afar.
Due to the significantly increased risk of being discovered, the healing effect would need to be improved in return. Whether the wish will ever be fulfilled is unknown.
With the apples that regenerate health and the mushrooms that recharge shields, another tool is now coming into play, which is directly integrated into the environment. I am curious to see in which direction Epic will further develop the map here.
