In October 2024, two really nasty movie villains will join the players of Fortnite. They will come as part of Fortnitemares, the Halloween event, and have already been presented by the developers in a short teaser.
Who are the new villains? For Fortnitemares 2024, developer Epic Games has secured two iconic figures from horror films: Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Billy – Jigsaw’s puppet from the Saw movies.
You can get a first look at the new characters in a short teaser. In it, the villains practice carving pumpkin faces together with other characters from Fortnite.

What does the teaser show? There are at least five new skins that will be available as part of the event. Three of them are licensed characters: Alongside Leatherface and Billy, Mephisto, a villain from Marvel Comics, will also be featured.
The X user Hypex had leaked Mephisto’s presence a few days before the official announcement, however, as an NPC.
Players love the new skins
How is the teaser received? The community seems to be very convinced by the new skins so far. In the comment sections on YouTube and under a post by the developers on X, fans are particularly excited about the new witch outfit for Lexa.
Other players are looking forward to causing mischief with the new skins. For example, pony_sona commented on YouTube:
- “This will be the best Fortnitemares ever. I can’t wait to make Leatherface do all the girliest emotes”
Some players are surprised that Leatherface and Billy, the puppet, made it into the game at all. While there has already been an iconic slasher villain in Fortnite with Michael Myers, his movies are relatively tame by comparison.
When does the event start? The Fortnitemares 2024 will start on Friday, October 11. Epic Games has not yet announced a specific time.
Will a large part of the player base even recognize names like Leatherface and Jigsaw? After all, the best films from both franchises are quite old, and even the biggest Twitch streamer of Fortnite had to hear that he is already too old for the game at 20.
