Today, on Tuesday, June 22, the Fortnite servers will go down across all platforms (PC/Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, Android). During this time, the new update 17.10 will be applied. What’s included in the new patch?
What’s happening today in Fortnite? The update 17.10 was announced by Fortnite Status on Twitter and is set to be applied today. It is the first patch of Season 7 and brings some changes to the game. Additionally, today marks the kickoff for the Summer event, which is supposed to start with a live event.
Patch Notes for Update 17.10
What’s different now? The update 17.10 brought some changes to the game that may not be immediately apparent. Here’s what to expect after the download:
- Alien parasites that can attach to players. They drain health points but protect you from headshots at the same time. As long as the parasites are attached to your heads, you can run faster and jump higher.
- Spy scanner nerf: The marking duration has been reduced to 10 seconds. Additionally, the weapon now takes 20 seconds to recharge – previously it was 15 seconds.
- Challenges for the “Cosmic Summer” event.
- New alien platforms that can transport you to the mothership – you can now visit the interior of the giant UFO for the first time.
With update 17.10, you can now finally visit the interior of the giant UFO, but you must first be abducted. Inside the ship, you will find various POIs that you may recognize from previous seasons. Here’s what it looks like inside:
The new update has already brought some changes, but at 3:00 PM, the real kickoff of the summer event will continue. Surely more new features will emerge then – already there are summer challenges and rewards.
For more information about the update 17.10, you can find it on the official Epic Games page (via epicgames.com). Now let’s go back to the original server downtime article.
Fortnite servers will be shutting down – when and for how long?
Downtime starts in the morning: The downtime for update 17.10 will start again today at 10:00 AM German time. At 9:30 AM, you can participate in a new round for the last time, after which the servers will be shut down and Fortnite will be down for a certain period.
How long will the maintenance take? Based on experiences from the past weeks and months, the maintenance should be completed around noon.
However, technical issues or other delays could lead to an extension of the maintenance work. If this happens, you will find out right here on MeinMMO.

When will the patch notes be released? Based on experience, there will likely be no or only superficial patch notes released for the battle royale mode.
However, if significant, important changes are applied, we will collect these for you and add them here in the article as a mini-version of the patch notes in English.
What new content will update 17.10 bring?
What’s new in the battle royale mode? Fortnite Status indicated on Twitter during the announcement of the update a hint about a change. There should be a way to access the giant UFO that was seen in the trailer for Season 7. Here’s what to expect:
- A reset for points in arena mode.
- The start of the summer event at 3:00 PM.
We will likely see what exactly is coming our way as soon as the first changes from the update become known.
Not only in battle royale mode is there a party going on. If you log in now in creative mode, you can visit a special island created in collaboration with The O2. A concert by the newcomer band “easy life” will take place there soon. For visiting the island and the concert you will receive 2 cool items for free. A visit might be worthwhile if you want to snag a spray and a lobby music.
