Surprise! The Fortnite servers will be temporarily shut down today across all platforms (PC/Mac, Xbox One, PS4, Switch, iOS, Android) for a new update to be installed. How long will you have to wait, and what new content is coming? MeinMMO has the answers!
What’s happening today in Fortnite? Usually, maintenance and server downtimes occur on Wednesdays or Thursdays. This week, Epic is making an exception and rolling out the new patch on Tuesday instead.
The reasons for this unusual timing are unclear. Are we in for a surprise? However, before we find out, you will have to take a mandatory break.
Fortnite servers are going down – when and for how long?
When does the server maintenance start? At least Epic remains consistent with the timing. You can join a new game for the last time at 09:30, before the servers go down at 10:00 German time. Fortnite will then be unavailable in any mode.
How long will the maintenance last? Based on past experiences, you should be able to log back in around lunchtime. If there are unexpected delays, you will be informed here.
Update 10:15: The patch notes for update 9.30 for Fortnite are now available.
These are likely the new contents in update 9.30
What does update 9.30 bring: A lot is still unknown, but the announcement on Twitter and in-game show that there will be a new drink called “Chug Splash” that can likely heal your teammates.
Additionally, Epic has released a new trailer showcasing a presumably new weapon – the signal pistol. Whether this will be available in the game today remains to be seen.
And finally, houses are still being randomly destroyed all over the map. The reason for this is unknown. Is a new event about to be initiated here?
What’s new in “Save the World”? According to a roadmap published by developer Epic PvE players can look forward to the following content today:
- The return of Diecast Jonesy and Chromium Ramirez
- SSD – Endurance: A horde mode
- Retrieve the Data and Resupply – these beta storm versions are now permanently available as missions
