Today, Tuesday, August 27th, the Fortnite servers will be down on all platforms (PC/Mac, Xbox One, PS4, Switch, iOS, Android) to deploy the new patch 10.20. When will maintenance start, how long will it last, and what does the update bring?
Update 10:30 AM: The patch notes for update 10.20 are now available. We will show you what is new.
What’s happening in Fortnite today: Fortnite has seen quite a bit of turbulence in recent weeks. In particular, the mech has caused frustration among players, as it is unbalanced and hard to counter, according to the criticism.
Epic has reacted and introduced a possible counter to the mech with the Junk Rift. However, this backfired, the Junk Rift is way too strong. In a final step, the mech was significantly weakened.
Today, there will be a new item in Fortnite: Battle Royale. However, you will need to take a mandatory break first. MeinMMO has all the information!
Fortnite servers are going down – when and for how long?
When does the downtime start? At 9:30 AM German time, you will have the last chance to join a new lobby. This ensures that no ongoing games need to be interrupted for maintenance.
At 10:00 AM German time, Fortnite will finally be unreachable, and maintenance will begin around this time (+/- 5 minutes).
When will the maintenance end? Based on past experience, you should be able to jump back in relatively quickly. The interruption should not last longer than 90 minutes.
If there are any technical problems causing delays, you will find out about it here. To pass the time, you can already read the patch notes shortly after maintenance starts.
This is what will likely be included in the new update 10.20
What’s new for Battle Royale? According to an in-game message, a new item, the Shield Capsule, will be added to the Battle Royale mode. Once used, this item protects you from fire and gives you time to heal or to revive fallen team members.
It is still unclear whether you can enter the “Bubble” or if it will be possible to shoot out of a bubble. Initial experiences will reveal that.
Additionally, an old area may return soon: Moisty Mire. However, it is still unknown what will happen to the desert currently located there.
Furthermore, the usual bug fixes and minor adjustments will also be made. However, we must wait for the patch notes to be published for details.
This is what the update brings for Save the World mode: PvE players can also look forward to new content, as Epic announced in a development plan:
- Carbide returns
- New storyline and questline
- New rock-themed hero that you will receive after completing the story questline
- New trap
- New Llama corresponding to the rock-themed hero. The Llamas cost 500 “Road to Summer” tickets and contain four new heroes and 5 Boombox weapons
- Second round for Quinn at the wheel
Are you looking forward to the update? What do you think of the new item “Shield Bubble”?
