In Fortnite, two major things are happening today on New Year’s Eve: A live event is taking place in the game itself, and there is the gigantic 12-hour stream by Ninja in Times Square, New York.
This live event is happening in Fortnite on New Year’s Eve: Since this morning, when it turned into 2019 in New Zealand, a special live event has been running in Fortnite.
Every full hour, a gigantic spinning disco ball descends from the sky. Fireworks go off and write “2019” across the Fortnite world.
At the same time, a massive boogie bomb goes off, forcing everyone to dance. A spectacle that could hardly be more typical of Fortnite.
You just have to wait until the full hour to experience it in the game itself.

How to join the gigantic live stream: The world’s largest streamer, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, is planning a 12-hour stream over Times Square in New York today. He is supposed to have set up a complete setup above the crowds.
The stream has already caused controversy beforehand, as Twitch advertised for Ninja’s event on competing streamers’ channels.
For the spectacle in Times Square, 1 million visitors are expected to be on site. Not all will probably come because of Ninja, but at least some will.
The event starts at 10:00 PM our time (4:00 PM local time) and is expected to last until 10:00 AM our time.
Ninja has already announced that he will present surprise guests. It is likely to be a spectacle.
