On September 3, 2019, Fortnite released Patch 10.20. With the patch, they introduced the new Zapper Trap, but only a few hours after the release, the trap was removed.
What happened? The Zapper Trap was added to the game with Patch 10.20, but was removed again after just a few hours.
Some players reported being kicked from ongoing matches. Afterwards, Epic reported on Twitter and in-game that the Zapper Trap would be disabled until a solution was found.
Update – September 4, 6:30 PM: Fortnite has reactivated the Zapper Trap.
What could be the reason? Fortnite itself has not disclosed the reasons why the Zapper Trap was removed. It is possible that the trap was related to players consistently being kicked from matches.
On the other hand, there may have been a bug with the trap that affected building.
A video circulating on Reddit shows a possible reason. The video was posted by @u/XOJAYTEE.
The video shows what happens when you have the Zapper Trap equipped and press the edit button before throwing the trap. The trap then does not place as intended on the wall, but rather on the ground in front of it.
What happens next? Fortnite mentioned in the tweet that the issue with players being kicked from matches has been resolved. However, they have not provided any further information about the Zapper Trap. The developers will let players know when the trap is reintroduced into the game.
Does this happen often? Those who know Fortnite will be aware that these situations have occurred frequently. A new item is introduced into the game and then removed again shortly thereafter. In one update, the new Scrap Burst was also temporarily removed due to a bug.
Were you able to try out the new trap or was it already gone?
