How to activate 2FA in Fortnite
What is 2FA? 2FA stands for “2-Factor Authentication.” It is a security mechanism that provides your account with an additional layer of protection. You will need to enter a special code during login in addition to your password.
This will be required whenever you log in to Fortnite on a new device, after 30 days of inactivity, or after clearing your browser cookies. This double protection is very hard for hackers to crack and is considered extremely secure.
How do I activate 2FA? On the page Fortnite.com/2FA or on your Epicgames.com account page there is a tab on the left called “Password and Security.” There, under “Account Security,” select the 2-Factor Authentication and enable it.
From now on, Epic will always send you a code via email when 2-Factor Authentication is needed.
How to get the code via app: Alternatively, you can use your smartphone and get 2-factor authentication apps that generate codes. The following apps are suitable:
- Google Authenticator
- LastPass Authenticator
- Microsoft Authenticator
- Authy
Link them to your Epic account and make sure that you use an email address confirmed by Epic. Then you can conveniently retrieve the codes via smartphone when you want to use 2-Factor Authentication.
