In Fortnite there is a new feature since Chapter 4 Season 1, namely the Augmentations. We will show you what they bring you, which ones are the best, and why you should use them.
What are Augmentations? Fortnite not only created wacky weapons, a new map and a Battle Pass for Season 1 with Chapter 4, but also implemented a new mechanic. It is called Augmentation and offers you many advantages in a match, the longer you survive in a match.
These advantages are comparable to perks from other games. They provide you with a damage bonus for selected weapons, increased regeneration of your health in bushes, or give you higher chances to acquire items. That is very practical, as it significantly increases your chances of survival.

The best Augmentations
How do Augmentations work? To activate the Augmentations, you need to stay in the match for a certain period of time. At some point, the message “Ready” will appear in the lower right corner of your screen.
Now you can choose between two options which Augmentation you would like to activate. If neither of the two Augmentations available to you appeals to you, you can swap your selection for free once. Then two new Augmentations will appear. Each subsequent swap costs 100 Gold Bars.
During your match, you can even set up to four Augmentations that will assist you in battle. When the match is over or if you are eliminated, you lose all Augmentations and have to choose new ones.
Which are the best Augmentations? All Augmentations have their justification for existing, but some stand out more than others. We have looked at all the Augmentations and came to the following conclusion:
- Bush Warrior – In dense foliage, your Health and part of your Shield regenerate
- Slurp Medic – There is a chance to find Slurp Juices in every opened container
- Storm Marking – When the storm rotates, nearby opponents are marked and highlighted
- Rifle Recycling – Weapons that use medium ammunition have a chance not to consume ammunition
In which modes are Augmentations available? These Augmentations are available in Build and No Build modes.
How do I unlock new Augmentations? To do this, you just need to play until you have the option to choose Augmentations again. At some point, new options will appear in your selection that you can choose. Then select them to unlock them in your collection.
Why should I use Augmentations? It is up to you whether you take the offer or ignore it. However, the fact is that they provide you with strong advantages in battle that you would never receive otherwise. You just need a bit of luck or enough Gold Bars in your pocket.
Are these all Augmentations? No, so far Epic Games has only revealed 22 Augmentations, but Leakers have already informed us that more Augmentations will follow. A new perk will be called “Midas Touch” and will give you 40 Assault Rifle ammunition as well as Gold per shot when you hit bosses or enemies.
