The Anime to One Piece turns a proud 25 years old this year. To celebrate, the creators will soon release a special. Now there is a first trailer to see.
You can feel old. The Anime to One Piece is celebrating its 25th birthday this year, among other things, there was also a rather disappointing event in Berlin. While the manga started in 1997, the adaptation as a series began two years later, in 1999.
On the occasion of this anniversary, the studio behind the anime is releasing a new special. As announced on the official channel on x.com, it will be released on October 20 and is named One Piece FAN LETTER.
What is the special about? The story is based on the short story collection Strawhat Stories, written by Tomohito Osaki. Thus, the new anime is not canon, but uses the universe from One Piece.
The story revolves around various ordinary people whose lives are somehow influenced by the actions of the Straw Hat crew. It is said to be about a young girl who is a fan of Nami. In the trailer, we see first images that roughly sketched give a first impression of the special.
Who is behind the special? Directed by Megumi Ishitani, with character designs and animations done by Keisuke Mori. Both have been involved in the original anime of One Piece. So, veterans are at the helm who probably know how to please fans for the 25th anniversary.
This announcement also brings joy to fans on Reddit. User Kirosh2 writes: “If Megumi Ishitani is directing, it should be an excellent episode. I can’t wait.”
Where can the special be seen? In Japan, the new anime will air on television. Here, there are no exact details about the release yet. Streaming services may announce something as the release approaches. By the way, the actual series continues with a new chapter and has recently confirmed the assumption of a German YouTuber.
