Next month begins the Alpha of For Honor. A new trailer for the factions is now available.
For Honor is one of the most anticipated games that will be released early next year on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. In this Ubisoft game, you will dive into battle as a knight, samurai, or viking and engage in online and offline melee combat.
The game introduces an innovative melee system according to Ubisoft, the “Art of Battle”. We have already discussed that in this article. In this system, you won’t hit each other at a fast pace like in typical “hack and slash” games; instead, you will observe each other, read the opponent’s movements, and proceed tactically.
Closed Alpha of For Honor
If you want to play For Honor before the release on 14.02.2017 and get a feel for the “Art of Battle”, you can sign up for a Closed Alpha. You can do this on the official Ubisoft site.
The Alpha starts on September 15 and ends on September 18. During this test phase, you can participate on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. However, the number of participants is strictly limited. By signing up, you will only have a chance to be part of it.
The Factions in Video
In For Honor, there are knights, vikings, and samurais. Each faction has unique gameplay:
In total, there are twelve playable heroes, which are divided into four different types per faction. These represent the character of each faction and are more or less useful depending on the mode:
- Vanguards – balanced units
- Assassins – fast but fragile
- Heavies – the tanks
- Hybrids – these are supposed to have many abilities
However, these types differ from each faction. For example, the samurai Vanguards, the Kensei, are faster than those of the knights. And both are significantly faster than those of the vikings.
All types look different, and you can customize them completely. You can change their gender, the appearance of weapons and armor, colors, even tattoos. The further you progress with your character, the more options you have.
By the way: Ubisoft confirmed that the PC version is being developed by the German game developer Blue Byte, known for Anno and The Settlers.
The battles in For Honor are slow, but complex and fascinating.
