In For Honor, all maps and modes will be available after launch at no additional cost.
On February 14, 2017, For Honor will be released for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. After launch, the online melee game will be supported with additional content.
Ubisoft has now confirmed that all future maps and game modes will be available as free downloads. So if you own the full version, there will be no additional costs. There will be 12 maps available at release.
Game Director Damie Kieken explained according to Eurogamer that they do not want to split the community this way. In other online games, like The Division (also Ubisoft), there is a season pass that includes paid DLCs. Those who do not purchase this cannot play certain content.
Will For Honor follow in the footsteps of “Rainbow Six Siege”?
In addition to new maps and modes, there will also be more free content. They have a large team supporting For Honor after launch. It is not known what additional “free content” this will specifically entail. However, it is interesting that it was not mentioned that new heroes would be free.
For Honor may be following the game “Rainbow Six Siege” (also Ubisoft). Here, the maps and modes were made available for free, while the operators must be unlocked: either with a currency that you can earn in-game or with credits that you must buy with real money.
In For Honor, the in-game currency “Steel” is already known, which you earn a little of after each match. You can use it to purchase various items in the virtual store. According to Kieken, you can also purchase “Steel” with real money if you want to speed things up. However, everything should really be unlockable by playing the game. The items are tied to your progress – it is not possible to purchase all endgame items immediately.
