In October, Pokémon GO released an update that included an unpopular XP screen. That is apparently now a thing of the past.
On October 15, 2025, the major level update in Pokémon GO was released. Along with the popular XP changes, a mini-feature was also introduced that was not very well received: The XP screen that showed how many experience points you gain during certain events.
The reaction at that time was negative, as trainers had several issues with the screen:
- On the one hand, it was one more screen to close
- A rather large Lucky Egg button was seen as unfortunate, as it could be accidentally clicked
- Some did not like the appearance of their trainer in the animation, as they smiled strangely
Now there seems to be a solution for everyone.
The XP screen has apparently been replaced by smaller animations
What does it look like now? If you check in on Pokémon GO now and hatch, for example, an egg, the XP screen no longer appears.
Instead, the XP bar lights up briefly at the bottom left, below the trainer profile. The XP number is also briefly displayed.
Thus, there is no screen appearing anymore, you do not have to click anything away, and you also do not run the risk of accidentally activating a Lucky Egg.
Whether the change is permanent and already rolled out to all trainers is still unclear. Players who have already experienced this have reported on Reddit and are pleased with the result. However, some describe that they still occasionally get the old screen or a combination of both.
Additionally, a few players explain that the new animation clashes with longer usernames. Nevertheless, they consider it the better option.
What do you think about the topic? Have you received a corresponding update, would you have liked to keep the screen? Let us know in the comments. Otherwise, Pokémon GO continues directly with the next events! Next up is the Dynamax weekend with Eevee. And what follows after that?
