The raid battles in Pokémon GO provide the cooperative gameplay aspect of the game. Players can team up in groups to defeat the raid bosses. These are divided into various difficulty levels, so some raids can work alone or with two players, while others require larger groups of at least 5-6 players.
The battle against Magikarp is one of the easiest raid battles, as the monster only knows weak attacks. Trainers have now let their Magikarp face the raid boss and filmed the “interesting” battle.

Many of you already know the famous fish from Pokémon editions on the Gameboy or from the TV series with Ash, Misty, and Brock. It has already become clear that a Magikarp is not spectacular in itself and does not have a wide arsenal of attacks. With the “Splash” attack, it may impress some trainers or Pokémon in Pokémon GO, but it does no damage.
Then there’s its second attack in Pokémon GO: Flail. The name already makes it clear that this is not a powerful water attack, but rather a … well … desperate attack.
Magikarp exists in Pokémon GO as a raid boss of the lowest difficulty level. This gives trainers a reason to get creative. Instead of grilling the fish quickly with their strong Pokémon, trainers brought out their own fish and sent many Magikarp into the ring. At first, it is unclear whether there can be a winner in this battle at all. The trainers wonder if it is possible to reach a result within the given time limit. Then it becomes apparent that the Flail attack “somehow works” and the battle slowly shifts in one direction.
As the fish flail about, their health points slowly decrease. A total of nine trainers attack the raid boss with their Magikarp, which is eventually defeated within the time limit.
