Is the MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV facing competition from within? Square Enix announced a mobile MMO for Final Fantasy XV in collaboration with developer MZ.
Final Fantasy XV is set to release on November 29 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but it is a single-player RPG. However, Square Enix intends to further expand the brand and game world, which is why they are working with developer MZ on a mobile MMO.
Another Final Fantasy MMO?
MZ is known for mobile strategy games such as Mobile Strike and Game of War: Fire Age. Final Fantasy XV is an RPG. Will the mobile game be an MMORPG or rather a strategy-RPG mix? What is certain is that the new game will draw on the characters and story of Final Fantasy XV and will also use music pieces from the RPG. However, the mobile game is said to be based on MZ’s technology and will allow millions of players worldwide to interact in a single game world.
Strategy or RPG?
The story of Final Fantasy XV revolves around a war between two rival nations. It is quite conceivable that this could be implemented in a strategy MMO. Players would then choose between the two factions, expand their territories, raise armies, and meet in tactical battles. However, this is not yet certain.
Both parties are excited about the partnership. MZ is looking forward to creating a new game with the Final Fantasy brand, and Square Enix believes that it can expand the brand through a mobile game from the successful developer studio. When new information about the Final Fantasy XV mobile MMO can be expected is still unclear. Square Enix is currently focusing on the release of the RPG on November 29.
