In Final Fantasy XIV, the trailer for the expansion “Stormblood” has been released. It is a feast for fans of eastern and Asian themes.
The trailer for Stormblood seems to say: No more steampunk and fantasy, we are going “Full Asia” now. The music and the setting exude the atmosphere of martial arts films. Numerous familiar tropes from eastern films are featured.
There are beautiful duels in lofty heights against a picturesque backdrop, action in the streets of an Eastern-looking city, and it’s all garnished with a pinch of humor and self-irony – as is typical for FF14, it is also beautifully epic and dignified.
Now that the “Samurai” has been revealed as the second new job alongside the Red Mage, you can really make a splash at Square Enix. Beautiful trailer, we think.
