Final Fantasy 14 Stormblood brings a familiar grind. Because if you want to unlock flying in the new areas, you have to find and activate all the Aether Sources again. To save you some effort, we have a handy guide to Aether for you.
Stormblood brings not only cool new classes like the Red Mage or the Samurai as a new expansion for Final Fantasy XIV. It also revives familiar gameplay mechanics. A particularly annoying task is the hunt for Aether Sources.
But luckily, we have a list of all sources in the addon, along with corresponding videos.
Final Fantasy XIV Stormblood – All Aether Currents at a Glance
Anyone who wants to fly in Final Fantasy XIV needs Aether Sources. These green spirals have been present in every area since the last addon Heavensward, and anyone who finds all the sources can take to the skies in that region.
All of this sounds great, but the search for Aether Sources is often a tedious and time-consuming task that you will have to complete again in Stormblood for all new areas. Fortunately, players have already found all Aether Sources and compiled a handy list on Reddit. In it, you will find all locations of the Aether deposits with map coordinates.

Unfortunately, the coordinates alone are not always the solution to the puzzle. Because often the sources are hidden or in hard-to-reach areas. But clever players have found a solution for this as well.
YouTuber Primalliquid has meticulously showcased the locations of the Aether in his videos. This way, you are guaranteed to find all sources with minimal effort. We have embedded three of the videos here; you can find the remaining Aether Guides on Primalliquid’s channel.
If you happen to miss your Aether Compass: Gibrillont at the “Forgotten Knight” in Ishgard or Gaufrid in Rhalgr’s Reach can each get you a compass again. The compass helps you find the sources. When you activate it, it points to the next location.
