The fantasy MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV is planning a lot of news with the next patch.
“Soul Surrender” – that’s the name of patch 3.4. It is set to be released on September 27. And it has, like many patches from FF14, a lot to offer. What is considered a “normal major content patch” for FF14 would be seen as an expansion in other games.
There are the “standard things” that come with every patch:
- The main quest continues.
- Side quests are coming.
- 1 new dungeon and the hardcore version of an old instance
- 2 new trials and the final round in the Alexander raid will be unlocked.
Cooldown timers reset after wipe
But that’s not all. Important changes to the combat system are set to be made. For example, timers will now reset when the group wipes. Auto-attacks will be executed regardless of the angle you face the opponent. Quality-of-life changes that raiders will surely appreciate.
In PvP, duels are being added. With patch 3.45, they aim to expand the Deep Dungeon to 200 levels, with levels 100 to 200 expected to be more of a grind. They plan to use the previous player feedback for the next Deep Dungeon.
Create your own party with NPCs
An interesting feature, which not much is known about yet, will come with the Grand Companies. Apparently, you will be able to form teams of NPCs and go hunting with them. This is a feature that FF14 stated they want to continue expanding.
More features: new content for the card game Triple Triad and the experience island Golden Saucer, changes to the exploratory mission, a lot of love for housing, and a double-cross hotbar.
A packed patch that should give fans a lot to do. Perhaps just enough until the next expansion for Final Fantasy XIV is announced. That should be coming soon.
