Interested players can test Final Fantasy XIV completely free of charge, without paying the monthly fees. Unlike other MMORPGs like World of Warcraft, FF14 offers many contents that players can enjoy for free. And more will follow soon.
So far, the MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV is only available for PC and PS5. However, Xbox boss Phil Spencer surprised everyone with his appearance at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan-Fest.
The MMORPG will also be released for Xbox Series X|S next year. The release of the Xbox version is set for spring 2024. A beta test is already planned with patch 6.5, which is expected to be released during 2023.
On the Xbox Series X, a resolution of 4K is even possible. Players will benefit from the graphics upgrade that is to be implemented next year.

Why is FF14 getting better? So far, only the base game A Realm Reborn and the first expansion Heavensward are part of the free trial. However, later this year the free version will be expanded to include the second expansion Stormblood.
Even without the expansion, the free trial offers more than 134 hours of content (via howlongtobeat.com). With Stormblood, the playtime increases to at least 195 hours. The maximum level will then be capped at 70, with all expansions, a maximum of 90 will be possible.
The special thing is: There is no time limit on gameplay. You can take as much time with the game as you want.
Players make fun of competitors
In the relevant Reddit thread, some users compare the free version of Final Fantasy XIV with that of World of Warcraft. Blizzard’s MMORPG allows players to try the base game up to level 20. After that, monthly fees apply.
In contrast, players can enjoy all contents up to level 60 in Square Enix’s MMORPG, soon even up to level 70. Accordingly, FF14 is ahead in the community.
Additionally, users are pleased that Square Enix still integrates the content of older expansions well. In World of Warcraft, it is harder to find a raid group for older addons.
